How do I, once I've made a single .exe file with VMware ThinApp, add the portableapps splash screen to it? (I've tried to use PAC except it just screws everything up. (it makes my app not work at all, and even if it does work, it won't run from the portable apps suite). Any ideas?
Our splash screens are in our launchers, which are written in NSIS. It is independent of anything like Thinapp.
As discussed in the other topic, what you are trying to do is not actually legal. Thinapp is really designed for publishers themselves (as well as companies that create apps internally for company use) to repackage their own apps for sale or internal distribution. Thinapp is priced and licensed for use this way.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
but to make the splash screen, I need the portable app installer thing (where it makes the system files for the app from a folder, asks for the publisher info etc? Or do I have the wrong program? (which one makes the splash screens?)

The splash screens for offically-released apps are made, and distributed, by PortableApps.com. JohnTHaller currently takes care of these. (Or his graphic designer, maybe...)
so once an app is submitted and approved, one of the people from PA itself adds the splash? I though you had to add it before it was submitted. Thanks for clearing that up.

OK as a newbie here as well here is how it works.
Get the PortableApps Launcher, it includes all the file syou need. I would also recommend the PortableApps Launcher format file.
Create your app Using the appropriate guidelines ( Get the PortableApps Installer as well as it will give you the format needed.
Use the launcher with your app and it will use the splash screen included ( the alpha beta one)
When and If you app becomes an official app then and only then do you get an official splash without hte beta tag.
