"No one man can terrorize a whole nation unless we are all his accomplices." - Edward R. Murrow
"The operation completed successfully." is a funny error.
not sure what that is all about will check Was this in regards to changing the skin by any chance?
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss
nope
I installed in the usual manner and started up the program.
that warning window came up before i had a chance to do anything.
I haven't had a chance to try this with XP, but I'll bet this is only a win 7 problem.

To be honest I only have XP available to test it on will look into the compatibility in Win 7 though thanks for the input. Couple of quick questions? Are you on a broadband always connected system? It appears that it grabs it's pics from online? Perhaps behind a firewall?
It may be an issue that I can not fix so may have to pull this one.

I am confused you seem to having similar issues with this app as well as the World clock app?
Both giving you very similar errors?
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss
earth clock works for me, even if a window pops up on win7
on win7 world clock doesn't even start
I'm not a programmer so I have no idea how similar the errors may be.
and please understand I am using two different laptops so it can't be the hardware.
"No one man can terrorize a whole nation unless we are all his accomplices." - Edward R. Murrow
No, the two apps are giving very different errors.
WorldClock is giving an error because it can't register one of its components with Windows; Earth Clock is giving an error because it can't read an image file.
Hope that helps you a bit!
"The question I would like to know, is the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. All we know about it is that the Answer is Forty-two, which is a little aggravating."
"Are you on a broadband always connected system?"
yes, my win7 is connected via WiFi (FIOS)
and I don't think there is a firewall as such. I mean I am not running ZoneAlarm or anything like that.
I don't really know where it's looking for this image, but the program works anyway. and it looks beautiful.

Apparently there was an error of some sort in intial read of the icl file (Icon Library File). After the first error did it occur with subsequent loadings?
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss
the error window comes up every time I start the program. and after I click it off, the program runs. this ONLY happens in win7.

Was surprised to see today that this has hit over 90 downloads yet no issues? Any chance for a little feedback? Should I put it up for the beta page? Is it worth the effort?
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss
it works fine. And in my other OS I get no error. AT least nothing that registers
I love the skins....it's very beautiful. And the various views are fun.
if you need help solving the Windows 7 issue, I'll try to help. But I'm not a programmer.
and, yes, this is nice enough to be put up for all to enjoy

It is corrected now...interested in a job as my secretary lol

If I click on the About menu and then on the lower right the button that says, "Website" that brings me to the EarthClock page. I just tried it now to make sure.

He was referring to my format of this post. Portable Apps has a specified format, something I was not doing properly when I first posted this. I have correccted it here and have a few other apps to do as well

my bad

Though it is not really portable. It still makes entries in the windows registry. But I kind of have a sollution to that. By using the latest launcher from this site.
I added the following lines in the PortableApps.comLauncher.ini file (removing all the others first)
[Launch]
ProgramExecutable=EarthClock\EarthClock.exe
[Activate]
Registry=true
[RegistryKeys]
EarthClockPortable=HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EarthClock
I also got the funny error in Windows 7, and I do not get it in XP. However it looks like it has got something to do with loading the tray icon. Since the icon is displayed normally in XP, but in 7 I do not see a tray icon at all (however the tray menu does work). But I cannot fix that, since I would probably have to change the EarthClock code, which is written in python. And I do not have python programming software. Maybe someone else could fix that, that would be great.
I will look at he registry issue later today, I guess I missed it, not sure about Win 7 compatibility as I do not have 7 I can look at the code as well. Unfortunately there have been no updates to this from the programmer. Thanks for the feedback and will most definitely look into the registry issue.
