I'm running 64-bit Windows 7, and for whatever reason, the main PortableApps window will not leave my taskbar. The window itself goes away, but the taskbar button remains. The only way I can get this button off is to close out of the Platform app entirely.
I'm also noticing this problem with Skype, so I'm guessing it's Windows-related. Is there any way to fix it?

That's the way Windows 7 works. There's nothing to fix, really.

Are you talking about the Windows 7 Taskbar button?
It was a feature introduced in 1.6 and above. To disable it, refer to here

If it's the icon notification area icon, that stays. There's no way to remove it.

I always thought that taskbar buttons only applied when you pinned an object to the taskbar. This is probably one of the strangest changes I've noticed about Win7.

I guess you have many programs open and it gets messy,
I rarely have more than 5 apps open and with wide screen there is no problem.
I find the big botton handy and easier to klick so this should remain default.
It's good that there is a way to disable it if you need to.

The Win7 system tray was changed to hide all icons by default, breaking tradition with all Windows versions back to Win95. So, an app that only shows up in the system tray won't show up at all by default, which can be pretty damn confusing to most non-technical users. So, many apps are now always showing on the taskbar under Windows 7 when they were previously system tray only (Skype itself for instance). It's the logical reaction to a system tray which is effectively neutered.

in 1.6 it worked for me, but with 2.0 it isn't working
