I intended to reanalyse Tortoise* after having done enough to keep me happy on the PortableApps.com Launcher. Anyone wanting to see from the source code how the TortoiseHg installer works should look at http://bitbucket.org/tortoisehg/thg-winbuild/src/tip/wix/.

Hi,
is there any other hg client as portable apps available?
I read that it is supposed to be possible to just copy the TortoiseHg installed folder to the USB stick, but I have no rights to install it in the first place.
Even a simple command line tool would make me happy
Thanks for your help,
Cheers,
Guenter
I made a package of 'mercurial' it self, of few days ago.
It's just a command-line tool and it's not in .paf format, but doesn't leave any thing behind.
I included some .bat files which download the latest PAL updates.
Clone.bat = download
Update.bat = update (altough, I'm not entirely sure if update.bat is working properly)

Hi Gringoloco
I'm a Mercurial developer and I think it's great that you've made a portable version!
Could you make a newer version such 1.5.1? If you want to do this regularly, we could add links to the files from the Mercurial wiki.
Initially I just made a quick package for myself and the people here to be able to download the latest updates for the new PortableApps launcher, which is under development.
I would do it again, but then should really make a serious package, which is up to the PortableApps.com Format (PAF) standard.
Although I am happy with the appreciation, I'm not sure if I can find the time to make a proper PAF version of this and have the responsibility of regularly maintaining such a package !
If I do I will leave a comment here.

Thanks for the reply. Even if you just make a package for the major releases (three releases per year) then I think that would be cool.
A proper development test has been released.
