Info

Actually the program would not be that difficult to set up in a PA Formatted launcher probably would not take more than a hour or 2, secondly I think it might be a nice addition to the development releases. From what I understand to be a Formal PA program, unfortunately I do not see it happening. I will explain why:

d) Required Software:
	i) Mirosoft Visual C++ Runtime 2008 SP1
         http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en
ii) Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 [Installer can detect it]
         http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=aea55f2f-07b5-4a8c-8a44-b4e1b196d5c0
    iii) MSXML v6.0
         http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=993c0bcf-3bcf-4009-be21-27e85e1857b1

iv) A Hot fix from Microsoft for MSXML 6, Widows XP SP3.
         http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973687/

  1. My understanding is that software that requires the >NET framework will not become and official release.
  2. Requiring the host machine to have C++ Runtiime 2008 may be a an issue as well
  3. Requring the host to have MSXML may also be a stumbling block

I am sure I will be correct but this is what I see as obstacles before even running the program.

The runtime can be

The runtime can be redistributed (some of our apps already do that), but I don't know whether or not MSXML would be a problem.

.NET certainly is, but there's nothing stopping you from setting up a dev test.

Though I am not a portable

Though I am not a portable expert and I really don't if there is any authentic spec that defines portablity.

but sometime back on a portable free ware forum also there was a discussion of about this... ppl were discussing if PMW is portable or not with all 4 requirements.

and they concluded that( not sure if they were correct or incorrect)
Your application is a portable,
1) If your application doesn't make any registry entry
2) If it doesn't generate any data file in %appdata% or any other system folder
3) If custmization done to application done on mahcine 1.
reflacts on machine 2 as well, considering you were running app from thumb drive.

Customization could means your favrites in case of browser...
IDE settings in case of NotePad++ type IDEs

These were their points, not mine :).
I still don't claim and dont argue that PMW is portable.

I am soon going to start working on the guidelines metnioed in this thread.
Thanks you all rock stars.
