A reader reminded us of the impending April 15 deadline for the support of ClamAV version 0.94 and earlier. ClamAV will be releasing signatures greater than 980 bytes on May 15. ClamAV version 0.94 and earlier will not be able to deal with these. To prevent issues on April 15 there will be a signature released that effectively disables version older than 1 year (version 0.94 and earlier). The application will not start.
Most of you will no doubt already be using a later version, but the product is used in many a gateway and is used as part of a number of commercial appliances. If you are not certain what version you are using, you may wish to do a quick check.
Some more information is here http://www.clamav.net/lang/en/2009/10/05/eol-clamav-094/
The latest version of our ClamWinPortable, 0.95.3, which is based on ClamAV, is available here:
https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/clamwin_portable
If you are already using a version of CWP at or above 0.95.1 there is nothing you need to do, but you should always try to have the latest version.

for the FYI
heard about it two months ago. clamwin 0.96.01 has been released two or three weeks ago . i expected the portable app done already! whats taking you guys so loong.
This topic was only intended to inform folks who were using
version 0.94 and earlier that it would stop updating
and working properly, nothing more, the fact that you knew about it earlier, as did I, is irrelevant.
Also, ClamWin 0.96.0.1 was released Monday, 12 April 2010
http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/222/1/
and our CWP should be ready shortly.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
you are putting my network at risk [explitive deleted]. If there is a dot update to firefox or other programs on your apps list you release it within a 24 hour period. I expect it for ALL apps including clamwin. GET IT DONE NOW!!!
That wasn't very nice.
Your post has been edited to remove your explitive. Making demands and swearing at developers who are voluntarily bringing you a free product is not tolerated. This is your one warning on this.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
first thing. you are relying on the portable clamwin to protect you network?
Second thing. you are demanding from a site that has one main dev and the rest are doing in their spare time
you are surely acting like an arse. first of all Clamwin Portable is not an active scanner so your complaint about your network being at risk is moot seeing as it still is at risk because you dont have an active AV. oh i hope you have a firewall (which ISNT portable) otherwise you are at risk as well.
Now if you want your apps to get done and NOW as you forseem to tell it then i recomend making a VERY Large donation to PortableApps so that John could work on the apps rather than working at a seperate job that takes him away from updating just so he can have a roof over his head, food in his stomach and a nice warm comfy bed to sleep in, clothing is optional but recomended.
one, I sneaker net a lot so no available high speed dsl/cable internet at my pad. so an up to date portable av is important, followed by an av that i have on my machines...
and two, there is several things i dont do such as donating money or use a credit/bank card over the internet, so unless john shares a p.o. box to make donation... well you get the fraggin point.
three, why the hell should you give a rat's donkey about my busness.
The simple fact of it is that you are protected and up to date right now, as long as your definitions are. 0.94 was discontinued. 0.95 was not, and will serve you perfectly fine. 0.96 will be out after extra testing (as it is a 'major' release in ClamWin world since they don't use major version numbers everything ships one place).
Please remember to keep the attitude in check in the forums and remember that you have no right to claim ownership of someone else's time.

so you transport data around. i see... also loose the attitude. The quality of work that comes out is equal to the treatment that is given to the people who create/build/compile/code. this is relitive to the business world as a employee is only as efficent as the boos alows them to be. if the boss is a jerk the employee has less motivation to do good quality work.
as for your bank issue... well sounds like tough luck. i am sure there is some way to donate.
also as for your business... i really dont care. i am more concerened that you come into the channel demanding with an attitude. The philsophy here is it will get done when its done.
On another similar issue in linux (at least my distro) in my experience it takes nearly a month for the latest ClamAV to be pushed out as a normal stable update. i have had to go and add a repo that may not have the most stable version but will ***k off with the messages that my AV engine is out of date.
