Folders for Applications?

I think it will be good to see a file structure system where we could put folders inside the portable apps folder and we could put our apps in them and access them from the portable apps menu. Much like the Windows start menu.

What do you all think about this?

what?

I thought this is the way it works...

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

Welcome to PortableApps!

Hio, illage2. This is a subject of much discussion on this site, although different people call it different things; often people refer to categories.
Take a look throughout the posts here, and do a bunch of searches, you will find a lot of posts on this.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.

no

Categories are folders within the menu, but I think the original poster is referring to folders inside the PortableApps folder on the drive.

@illage2:
This is possible. PLease take a look at the Menu Support Page.

Actual App's Folders?

Like Simeon, I'm reading this as the location of the actual apps themselves. Since I don't use the PA.c menu this isn't an issue for me, but I can certainly how somebody might want to use the PA.c menu and still customize the location of their apps. I have about 70 portable apps, that's a lot of folders to have under one directory!

menu support page not helping?

@simeon:
We need folders to categorize the apps installed eg. sys tools, office tools etc to be in seperate folders. your suggestion to follow the menu support page does not work, this has already been tried.....there is another app "CodySafe" which deals with this quite effectively, but I like Portableapps and would like to see this option available.

folders

If you want folders aka categories to appear inside the PortableApps.com Platform, you'll have to wait for the next version to be released as this isnt yet available.

The menu support page link links to a section that explains how to make standalone portable apps that are not from here appear in the Platform/Menu.
