My U3 drives screwed up!!

I have this baby here:

And I just inserted it into my computer, and it won't autorun. So I went into my computer and the storage part of the U3 drive isnt being read there at all. I didn't do anything. The U3 partition is still there, just not behaving correctly. Whats up? Is there a way to reset it?

Can anyone help me?

U3 Support

This isn't somehing that's really handled here... as it's an issue with U3 itself. I'd suggest contacting Sandisk.

But here are a few possibilities...

1. Autorun is disabled on lots of PCs (I *highly* recommend disabling it for security reasons). Sometimes you need to run LaunchU3.exe (You may have already done this)

2. U3 is incompatible with Nero's InCD due to errors within U3's "CD" partition. You need to uninstall InCD in order to use U3.

3. U3 is incomaptible with the LibUSB open source library due to the same issue, you'll need to uninstall that, too. (You probably don't have this installed unless you tried to hack a CVS disposable camcorder.)

4. If that doesn't do it and you can't access it on multiple PCs, you may need to reinstall U3. There's an installer somewhere on Sandisk's site. (It only works on Sandisk drives... and it doesn't always work right).

If you pulled the drive (unplugged it without safe ejecting) you may have corrupted the file system... especially on Windows 2000. This is the most common issue that people encounter.

If none of the above help, contact Sandisk.

I was trying to avoid the old Microsoft Support joke:

I'll tell it anyway -- (No offense to the poster.)

A call came into the Microsoft Office Support Center the other day that went something like this:

"Hello MS Office support, how may I help you."
"Well, I am at home and I was typing a letter and all of the sudden the cursor disappeared."
"I certainly can try. Can you tell me what you see on the screen right now?"
"Nothing actually. The screen is dark."
"Is the monitor turned on?"
"Well, I didn't turn it off."
"Is the power light on the monitor?"
"No."
"Can you check to see if somehow the power cord got disconnected from the back of the computer or the wall?"
"I can't see anything. The room is dark."
"Well can you turn the light on?"
"No."
"Why?"
"All the power is out in the neighborhood."
"I think I can solve your problen right now."
"Great. What do I need to do?"
"Do you still have the box that the computer came in?"
"Yes, it is in the closet."
"Please pack up the computer carefully and return it to the store and get a refund."
"Why, is the computer beyond repair?"
"No, but you are far too stupid to own a computer."

Well I see we've settled on not helping him but....

If you are running AnyDVD or a similar app they can cause the exact same behavior you describe. Disable and see if that makes a difference.
