Actually that's what the changelog says,,,

Hi Zach,

that's strange, cos this is what the changelog here in the thread says:

"a search bar with portable history that will search google, google maps, google images, google products, and wikipedia, as well as lauch local programs, files and directories"

Use origional and geek.

is there a way to use my existing install. so i can run both the original menu, and/or geek menu to save space on my usb hdd. i don't want to have to set up 2 sets of each program to do this. what are the file(s) i would need to change to achieve this.

PA menu & geek.menu

1. Extract the geek.menu .ZIP package to a folder of your choice (C:\Tmp for example).

2. From the C:\Tmp directory, copy the C:\Tmp\PortableApps\geekMenu directory to your PortableApps directory (F:\PortableApps for example, if the F: drive is your pendrive).

3. From the C:\Tmp directory, copy the StartGeekMenu.exe file beside to the StartPortableApps.exe file (to drive F:).

4. Modify the autorun.inf file if you wish.

To use the official menu, execute the StartPortableApps.exe file. To use geek.menu, execute StartGeekMenu.exe.

(Note that as a side effect, geek.menu will shown on your PA menu as well.)

Ok done that But

Step 3 wont work. copping a short cut from the file F:\PortableApps\Geek.menu ditrctory does though.

Also doing what you suggested actually does not let me access all the apps i have installed on my hdd. so i need to manually coppy them over and have them x2 which takes up more space on flash

would modifing the autorun.inf file solv this. How is this done. i did it for the MenuMod but cnt remember how. I would like to modify it to be able to use the origional, the geek.menu, and the MenuMod patch for testing purposes. Just untill the next release comes out that is.

Btw does anyone have an update on the release of the new menu: post the link to it better as this is not a forum for it.

Status of this fork?

Does anyone know what the status of the geek.menu fork is? There has been no apparent development activity in 10 months.

Probably because the PA.c menu is about to have a huge update.

Seriously?

Development stopped on geek.menu 10 months ago because of a long promised update to PA which hasn't materialized yet and will only supply a small subset of g.m functionality even when it does? Hard to believe.

If anyone has actual info about the status of geek.menu (the developer isn't answering emails) I'd appreciate it.

FreeOTFE not Truecrypt

FreeOTFE would be a better choice than Truecrypt - Truecrypt requires administrator rights, which isn't compatible with a portable system.

FreeOTFE also includes FreeOTFE Explorer, which doesn't need admin rights

Better still - why not include both!

Cool!

I Relay like this and I use it instid of the PortableApps.com Platform Because it is so customizable!
The only thing I don't like is the search bar at the bottom so is there a way to remove it? Thank you!

Wallpaper Plugin

You know you really need to support .gifs in your wallpaper plug in! I just love a animated background!

Comment disappeared

I do not know why, but my last comment about the geek.menu just disappeared after a short amount of time - I wasn' spamming at all, so I can't imagine why is this just happened. In the case of a moderation, I would be happy to read about the reasons.

Can't Rename Category

When I try to rename a category I get "Unable to write to Data\.pafdata."
I tried creating a plain text file named .pafdata. in the data directory.
But that didn't help.

Thanks, Kenny

Fixed, more or less. I wrote

Fixed, more or less. I wrote my own script to call geekmenu.exe
StartGeekMenu.exe was somehow causing the problem.

Now I just have to figure out why it's hanging when I tell it to exit.
