If you go to these sites:
http://www.piriform.com/recuva/download/portable
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/portable
http://www.piriform.com/defraggler/download/portable
http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download/portable
you get them FREE and they are legal
so what you do with all 4 is:
open them with WIN-rar or such a program, put it in your L:\PortableApps (or, you could put in a separate folder with in that folder, as I did like L:\PortableApps\ccleaner the drive letter will vary with computer) then open, and use them.
Here's where to get info on what each does (for those who don't know)
http://www.piriform.com/recuva/
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/
http://www.piriform.com/defraggler/
http://www.piriform.com/speccy/
There are already PAF version of all four of these in the testing forum on this site.
Had a look on Test Releases page and could only find Speccy.
Couldn't find any reference to the other three except for the "launcher only" pages.
Seeing as piriform supply portable versions (though not fully PortableApps compliant, see comment below) on their site, are there plans to release all four as proper PortableApps versions?
That doesn't make them Portable.
Change some settings, go to a new computer, and see how they weren't saved.
Actually, the official portable builds save to settings files, so as long as they go with the .exe, they're portable. (Except Speccy, which you have to choose to save to a file manually, but as long as you do that it still works).
i have ccleaner, defraggler and revoUninstaller that i made and have been using them for a while without any problems, so if anyone wants it i can post it here. made them for use on windows 7 cause i don't use xp
Like I said, the first two are already available in the beta testing forum, and I'm personally maintaining the Revo Uninstaller Portable package (also available in the beta testing forum).
ok so that means there cant be more than 1 portable version of an app here? everyone thinks differently, plus mine can be place holders till the others come out of beta testing
1. Why would there need to be more than one? Do you see any official app here (or even in testing) that has more than one *actively maintained* package for it?
2. "Plus mine can be place holders till the others come out of beta testing," I'm not sure what you mean by this. Yours haven't been tested here at all, so the others are closer to being out of testing than yours are.
never-mind, thought this was a community where people help others and share their ideas, not somewhere where people bullied the rights to other people stuff.
Hang on a minute, guys. First off, this doesn't have to be a fight. Everyone is working to get apps in the hands of users. As a general rule, we do a first come first serve with apps and developers packaging them. That way we don't have 3 versions of AppX and then a fight over which will become official.
In the case of Defraggler and CCleaner, the point is a bit moot as these are freeware apps, so we need to work directly with the publisher on an official release (which we are). So there's no need to post additional versions at the moment.
Now lets go back to making cool apps, ok guys?

I'm glad to hear that PA.c is working with Piriform to create portable versions of the aforementioned programs. I know that portable versions are already available through the publisher's website but having the programs in PA.c Format makes things much simpler.
If and when there are portable versions made available, will there be two launchers for CCleaner, Speccy, etc. because of the x86 and x64 executables? Or will x64 not be supported in this particular case...
Depending on the benefit given by the x64 version, there will be either one launcher that runs identically on both 32 and 64 bit systems, or the launcher will take care of launching the correct executable based on the underlying architecture. That will be decide on by the developer, in conjunction with John T. Haller.
Edit: John got to it first.
Downloaded all four of the "portable" versions of these programs last night from piriform's site, copied them to my USB drive and clicked Options/Refresh App Icons.
No problems with CCleaner and Speccy, but Recuva and Defraggler produced multiple icon entries on the menu screen.
Recuva has two entries and looking in the directory there are two executable files one called recuva.exe the other recuva64.exe (I'm guessing for 64bit versions of windows?) However both entries on the PortableApps menu just say Recuva (no telling which is the 64 bit version)
Defraggler is worse, it has four entries, the two main ones (one being the 64bit version) and two others whose exe files are called df.exe and df64.exe (command line versions) All four programs just show as Defraggler on the PortableApps menu (though two don't have icons).
I know you guys have no control over this as they aren't proper PortableApps versions, but could you give me some tips how to more accurately show the correct file name on the PortableApps menu? Beside just right clicking and selecting 'Rename'
And finally, are you going to release official PortableApps versions of these programs?
Thanks
You can right click on entries in the menu and select hide to not have them shown all.
"Der Klügere gibt nach, deshalb regieren Dumme die Welt."
If you want to keep the 32 and 64bits version, you can rename them aswell with right click.
not too much
Hello,
it is nice to see that Piriform offers potable versions of their software.
But the problem here is that they are not managed by the Portable Apps Platform.
I request CCleaner (and all the other apps) as official applications managed by the Portable Apps Platform.
So I can download them via the Portable Apps Platform and automatically get Updates via the Portable Apps Platform.
Greetings
OLLI
Please search. You will find development tests of all four apps already lurk in the beta testing forum.
While dev tests cannot be automatically updated, the more people who use them, the quicker bugs and other issues get worked out, and the quicker they can (potentially) become official.
While they are not officially released (and in some cases not actively maintained) they work well and especially in case of CCleaner provide automatic updating - with the small caveat that it even asks to update although it is up to date (cause of a quirk in the version number check).
Is there any news on these becoming official yet? Surely they've been tested enough? They aren't exactly complicated apps.
Live for an ideal and leave no place in the mind for anything else.
We won't release them without permission from Piriform. They have given no one permission to repackage their software.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Are they unwilling to give it then?

They are currently unwilling to give anyone permission to bundle their apps in another format for use with an automated updater.

Wouldn't the online installer solve the repackaging? I made my own personal CCleaner and Recuva that way.
We prefer to bundle except when a publisher asks us specifically to do an online installer (see Java). Piriform doesn't want anyone doing anything at all.
