unfortunately no portable release yet.
It's been hinted that the 2.0 PortableApps menu release is the focus at the moment. As soon as that is done then expect to see many releases to update the portable apps collection.
I hope it happens soon. This release fixes some problems that I have been experiencing with the last version.

Count me in as well. I have major problems with gtalk constantly dropping the connection in 2.6.6 if the internet connection is less than ideal. 2.7 non-portable doesn't have the problem nearly as bad.
As a temporary stopgap, if you're really impatient, you can download the Pidgin no-installer .zip release and extract it to the /App/Pidgin directory (delete everything in that directory first). It works just fine with the current launcher.

Where can I find the no-installer zip release? I've searched this site and http://www.pidgin.im without finding it. Is it buried in another download?
Pidgin has a portable mode that's used along with the launcher. I'm not completely sure you can do that without breaking something.
If you check, the executable being launched is pidgin-portable.exe
There's no pidgin-portable.exe in the zip download.

Just download this zip file and extract it into
\PidginPortable\App\Pidgin
Don't forget change name pidgin on pidgin-portable
And everything gonna work as it should
