See Songbird Portable 1.7.3 PR1 for download [13.2MB download / 52.7MB installed]Release Notes:
Pre-Release 1 (2010-06-06): Initial release
Notes:
- This is just a quick test before we go release as it's a new version. Please test with multiple drive letters and report back ANY issues you might have with it.
Thanks, downloading now.
BTW, is there a reason why you didn't use the new installer?
It would've taken too long to acquaint myself with it and update all my code, since I have a LOT of custom code the new launcher doesn't handle.
I meant the new 2.0 installer, not PAL.
Still would've taken more time. John has to repackage it anyways to update the splash when it gets released.
I'm going to assume nobody has seen any issues yet??
You'll have to wait at least a week... you know the floodgates around here get stuck sometimes.
I'll see if I can test sometime this week, although busy week for me work-wise.
Lol. Move faster!
Using the Songbird during the first session worked fine after installing it over my existing 1.4.3 version. However the next day I started using the program, the Songbird 1.7.2 did not locate my library folder. The settings still have it mapped to my external hard drive's music folder (J:\Documents\Music). Only the playlists are available. I did add videos from my external drive as well using Drag & Drop (from J:\Documents\Videos). They are not seen either.
The only things in life we regret are the risks we didn't take.
Was the drive on the same letter? Did you move Songbird's files at all?
***EDIT***
This is probably your issue, and you don't want to use the profile manager as described as that's how we get the portability working. You can rename your old "Data" folder and try it with a clean one and you shouldn't have any issues.
I'll probably hold this release back until the Songbird team fixes it and pushes a new version.
Thank you. That fixed the issue with the Library pane, but by renaming the Data folder I then lost all of the favorites and custom playlists. It also required me to select all of the custom add-ons and device options. Definitely not a desired effect. Thanks for pointing out this problem. I will be looking forward to the Songbird's fix.

Once they get the fix out, you'll be able to use your old profile again and it should fix it for you. From what I can gather from the bug report they have fixed it, and also made it so the "old" profiles can be used again and will be fixed.
John - I think we're going to hold this release back until at least 1.7.3 from Songbird to fix the library issue. I'll update as needed, and as always, you can reach me on IRC.
