I'm a bit unsure of my responsibilities with this (if any). Am I expected to do a new dev test for each release or is it an "in-house" job? Seeing as there's another one just out...

I see it as follows:
As long as there are no big changes that require major rewrites of the launcher, I just send the updates to John. I think thats a reasonable way of doing it.
"What about Love?" - "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate." - Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate
Sounds fair enough. I'm not sure what John expects, I might drop him an email.
I have tried to download and install Foxit reader portable several times without success. Each time I get this NSIS message: 'installer integrity check has failed. common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy.'
Other applications have installed successfully though.

That means you didn't get the full download. Your browser or net connection hiccupped. You need to download it again. But be sure to clear your browser's cache first otherwise you're not actually downloading it again, you're just recopying out the bad download from your cache.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
U were right John. I got it now. Thanks

is out. Are there any plans to release a portable version? I'm asking because there seems to a lot of "heat and dust" in other forums over the way the installation (of the version direct from Foxit) seems to promote something called the ask toolbar. I was wondering if it's inclusion is why portableapps.com is being cautious.
As far as I know, the ask toolbar is old news and installation is only offered with the Foxit installer. It shouldn't be an issue with their zip version.
You can get the latest PA.c test release here.
Thanks for your prompt answer, prapper :-).
I've been using Foxit happily for several years. So I know they have tree downloads for each version(exe install package, zip portable package, MSI silent install package),and only the exe install package has the ask toolbar optional program.
Even what you have downloaded is exe install package ,please just clicking 'Decline' on ask toolbar installation page, will continue with normal installation. It is a little inconvenience to us but its a freeware and they have to make money someway.I can understand it :).
And guys ,if you are too lazy to click'Decline'option to reject the ask toolbar, please just download the zip portable package without ask toolbar included from foxit download center:
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/index.php(please click "more download"option behind corresponding program ,the zip portalbe package will be showed in the new pop-up window box.
