ISO Buddy

Name: ISO Buddy

Website: http://www.dvd-ranger.com/prod_isobuddy.asp

License: Freeware

Description: ISOBuddy is an ISO image file processing tool that can convert almost any (disc) image file format to ISO. Can convert GI, NRG, CDI, MDF, IMG, B5I, B6I, DMG, PDI, BIN and CCD to ISO, Burn ISO and erase discs.

Notes: I realise this application doesn't perform an everyday function however it's the sort of app that when you need it you need it.

Download Squad was where I

Download Squad was where I first heard it. I did see Lifehacker's article today and noticed they linked to DS's article which would demonstrate that someone at Lifehacker reads Download Squad Wink

Looking

I downloaded and am looking a big thing I see right off though wothout even going further is the system requirements

System requirements
- Windows XP, Vista or Seven
- Pentium 4 1.4GHz or higher
- 512 MB RAM
- 10 GB of free drive space
- A DVD Dual Layer Writer

now I assume that the 10gb space is for an ISO of a dual layer DVD? otherwise???

I think you can safely assume

I think you can safely assume the 10gb space requirement is for dual layer DVDs. The application's setup is only 2.5 mb so hard to see that ballooning to 10gb on install.

Sort of

It's quite normal for a thing to write the entire image to disk in preparation for burning. Some have an option to disable that (not recommended), some don't. I would expect that to be the reason why.

I agree

I agree most "rational" people would understand that...my concern is that a user might actually try to "burn a dual layer" dvd and that would require the 10 gb, I will play with it and see as to where and how it creates a "temp" file to create the iso
