I've got a simple question that has baffled me for a long time.
When downloading a new portable application, I first open the .paf.exe file and the app is installed on my USB drive.
But there seems to be two .exe files that can be used to launch the application??
One of the .exe files is in the App/App-name folder.
The other .exe file is in the App-name folder. This .exe file is much shorter than the other .exe file in the App/App-name folder.
Clicking on either file seems to open the app.
Someone, please let me know which .exe file is preferred to use, and what is the difference in the two .exe files.
Thanks very much for your help.

The .exe you are to use is the one found on the home directory of every application
ex.
J:/PidginPortable/PidginPortable.exe
If you have not notice, using the other .exe file will start the application as if it were being started for the very first time preferences settings will not be loaded.
I once was told why there are two .exe files, but the reason escapes my mind. This was a couple of years back. Hopefully someone will be kind enough to share with us the reason for it.

ok the appnameportable.exe is just the launcher that executes the real programs executable but in a portable way, just ignore the app/appname/app.exe one as running that one directly will break portability,
So to recap always run the appPortable.exe (app being the name of the program you installed).
