An (W/M/L)APP would be the first step toward making an application such as " Open Microscopy Environment " (http://www.openmicroscopy.org/site) portable (it uses PostgreSQL, not MySQL). (OME plugs well with ImageJ...)
Why?
Scientific data are precious. Complex data as images definitely need a management system. Non published data are sensitive, and many collaborators wish to have them only on USB HD. Therefore, there is a need for having a portable OME management system.
