I figured...

Well, I had the same issues with this one as I did with Freeciv and Hedgewars, so I thought I was go ahead and fix them and preemptively give you the credit.

Thanks for the good advice!

Works, but...

I'm not saying I inspected it thoroughly, but it seems to be working fine at first glance. I did not find anything in the registry (Windows 7 btw). However a small not that important detail caught my eye. The menu buttons and items are slightly different. The text to be specific. For example look at Tools and then the first item "tools.transpose". In the original case I see Transpose, and the second is Tools scale. I guess its either the language file, or it could be Windows 7. For the rest it seems to work perfectly.

Hmm, yeah...

I see what you are talking about and I don't know what the issue is. It would appear that all of the menus are in lower case and some of them have periods in them (I have "edit.menu" on the main menu). It looks to me like it isn't finding the default language file properly.

I'll look into it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Fixed, I think

I've uploaded a new installer, and I think I've fixed this issue. Please take a look at it to confirm.

Thanks for the feedback!

Almost there

Looked into it again. Came across a few things concerning the menu.

1. When I do a fresh install with test 3, the outcome is the same, still with the points between two words.

2. When I do a fresh install once more, but then installing the additional languages too, I get an error message upon starting the app.

!insertmacro ConfigWriteCall
D:\PortableApps\TuxGuitarPortable\Data\settings\config.properties language=en

This is a message from the launcher btw, not tuxguitar itself.

Anyways, when I click ok, it just launches the app and the menu looks fine.
Because I have Dutch regional settings in Windows (the rest is english) with the additional languages it starts in dutch by default. But I prefer english, and also for testing feedback I tried that to, and it looks great.

However every time I start the app, it still gives me the error message. So you should probably look into the launcher.ini

Also, maybe not the best fix for the initial menu problem, once getting rid of the error message. I guess the additional languages don't take up that much space, so I recommend not giving the option during install, but installing that standard.

Offtopic:
know anyone who can look into another test? EarthClock Portable, I like it, but also there I get an error message, however not due to the launcher; its the app itself. It is open source, however written in an older version of python. I know a little bit of programming, but I couldn't get the original source to compile. Probably I do not use the proper version of python, or I am missing an add-on that's required.

Hmm...

1) I make all of the languages optional, and don't leave the default English. I don't know how to leave that file behind without leaving all languages. Will probably do that

2) That is probably a debug message I forgot to take out.

Very Cool!

I'm usually not a big commenter, but I can't help jumping in on this app to say "Cool!"

I just started playing with it and so far it is very stable.

As a big user of Guitar Pro (which is far from portable), having a portable guitar tab application is a huge help to me.

Great job! And I hope the development of this portable version will continue through to full PortableApp release.

Thanks!

upgrade to last version

Hi there,
I'm very happy with the portable version of tuxguitar, it allows my son to practice on his school laptop without any installation, great job !
I just wanted to know if there are plans to upgrade the portable app to the last version of tuxguitar (1.5.6) as the portable app is now ten year old and doesn't open the gpx files (or maybe I just need an update for a plugin?).
Anyway, thanks again for your work
David
