Application: Googsystray
Category: Internet
Description: Googsystray is a system tray app for Google Voice, GMail, Google Calendar, Google Reader, and Google Wave. The idea is to be able to keep track of all that stuff without having to keep a bunch of browser tabs open, or constantly checking them. It notifies on new messages, alerts, etc., and provides basic services quickly (Reading or sending a new SMS message, or marking an email read, for example.)

for those people who wantthis program but wish it to integrate with their PortableApps browser take a look here PAGoosy Portable
1.2.0 Development Test 1 (2010-06-22): Initial release
1.1.2 Development Test 1 (2010-06-15): Initial release
- Made it so that config ini file is saved to data file.
- Included optional 2k files so should work on Windows 2k
Known Issues:
- When program launches the browser to actually go to Google, program defaults to host computers default browser.
- Tested on Windows XP SP3 unknown how it will work on Windows 7 with their systray issues.
- Will freeze if Google Desktop is running on host computer. Currently have it so that Googsystray will not launch if Google Desktop is running but error message statement makes it appear as if 2 instances of Googsystray were running.
how to I have gmail open on my portable Opera instead of that hideous IE?

In known issues #1 above the gmail will open in the default browser of the host computer. I have written to the author of the program and am also trying to figure a way to work around it on my end.

https://portableapps.com/node/24022 I believe I have this addressed with my fork of the program. PAGoosy will use the PortableApps default browser

it runs really slow
when I first opened my email, it took me to IE twice, then it took me to firefox 4 times (it froze up and I kept clicking on it, then it caught up and opend up a bunch of windows at once)
the icon is pixel-y
it runs really slow
What OS? What system specs? What connection? Does the systray load slow or when you try to get the mail?
More info needed?

What is the host machine browser defaulted to? As noted in issues on release it will only open default browser of house machine at this time? Lets see you asked it to open by clicking many times, then when it finally caught up it many windows open? Like as many as you clicked it?
the icon is pixel-y
Well I created icon from the 64 png that was included would you like me to redesign one for it?

read my signature
commands take forever to execute and my PC is constantly freezing when its running.
I was running Firefox (local install) at the time. I don't know how many times I clicked. Default browser it Firefox. I don't know how many times I clicked, but it seems like it popped open the same number of windows.
Yes, please.
Well that explains a multitude of things like not enough memory especially when calling your browser so many times......Patience is a virtue you know.
Seriously though I am looking into the python scripting for allowing the user to set default browser.
As for the icon live with it till I come up with something better/the author will allow.

use icoFX and create your icon from it:
