Hi forum,
i created a small presentation which is handouted on cd. it shows a website with an embeeded WMP (firefox plugin) and runs from cd with the portable version of ff.
my problem: when i insert the cd to a pc where ff is already installed, my portable version seems to be looking for add-on/extensions and displays a popup after starting that says "add-ons where successfully installed" or anything like that.
is there any chance of disabling this dialog? or prevent ff from searching for extensions maybe via command line option or in the config?
i tried the safe-mode, but it's no option. the add-ons are installed either this way, but the wmp plugin wont work at all and there is another popup while starting.
thank you very much for your help!
regards,
torsten

It isn't clear to me what your exact problem is, but you should have everything necessary already installed, configured and operational before you write the CD.

hey, thank you for your answer.
i try to explain my problem a little bit more in detail: all plugins i need are already on the cd, firefox portable is working fine and starting via autorun with all i need from the cd. no problem there.
the problem starts, when i move to a different pc where firefox is already installed. let's say it's the pc of a friend of mine. he has firefox running, aswell. and he has some plugins like "java fast starter" or how this plugin is called. When he inserts my cd into his pc, the firefox portable will launch automatically as expected, but shows besides the website i want to be displayed the options panel which says "1 add-on has been installed". and that is my problem.
because this presentation is important for me, i don't want this popup window to appear. just a small thing, but in this case it's looks ugly. i checked about:config already and turned of a bunch of things. but it didn't work out. i just don't want firefox to search for other suitable plugins on the pc.
do you understand my problem? in this case it's just an optical thing.
regards,
torsten
The only way to prevent the addon install is to disable the quickstarter in java on the machine

As far as I know, Firefox Portable always uses the plugins that are locally installed and there is no way around that.
As already mentioned, you's have to disable it on the local PC.

I really understand you problem, because mine is very much the same.
It is annoying, closing that window every time, I use the flashdrive on a new PC.
Did you finally find a workaround?

Rocking for the One who is the Rock
ok
type "about:config" in the adress bar
then you confirm that you will be careful.
then you type "start" in the filter bar, so you set browser.download.manager.showWhenStarting as false, solved!
