K-Meleon

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/

Anybody have much experience with this browser?

Launches in about a second. Seems to be compatible with most web sites. Has bookmarks you can take with. I guess it is Mozilla/Gecko based.

I noticed it mentioned a few times before in this forum, but more about whether it is portable or not.

I just downloaded a portable version.

Portable K-Meleon

@wsm23:

Yes indeed, Pocket K-Meleon 1.02 is truly portable (except for creating an empty %AppData%\K-Meleon folder - a Mozilla problem) and needs no special launcher. Although K-Meleon is limited in its access to XUL features, it has its own macro language which lets you do quite a lot besides. Also, K-M provides a lot of useful features "straight out of the box", compared with, for example, Firefox.

Pocket K-Meleon is available from http://kmeleon.uk.to and please enjoy!

Thanks.

I have already been using it for a couple of days. It launches so much quicker than my FFP.

I use so many FFP features/extentions, though I think KM will be a secondary browser for me.

Well no wonder it takes longer to launch FFP...

Did not finish my thought.

I guess I did not make myself clear.

"It launches so much quicker than my FFP.

The only other thing I could do would be to have a seperate FFP with little or no extensions. I already have FFP 2.0 RC2 which I kind of use like that.

KM will do for quick launch/browse right now.

Any new developments on

Any new developments on K-Meleon Portable? Is there just way too much 'other' stuff to do at present? Wink

Perhaps BigD could help out since ano hito developed Portable K-Meleon already... there is no point reinventing the wheel etc.

I believe we still need a Portable Apps version of K-Meleon since:
1) The download site for PKM is not reliable/trustworthy enough for me (http://hyperupload.com/ - down at present anyway).
2) The host site needs to be a bit more mainstream for effective peer review of source code for possible security bugs (i'm not strong engough to do it on software yet so I have to rely on others for this atm).
