VOIP - Is it possible via SSH (putty)

Hi All

I've setup a secure tunnel using portable putty. I am planning a trip to Europe which I am going to use free hotspots in pubs etc.

I want to setup all traffic to be piped via my secure socks proxy.

Is it possible to setup to use Portable VOIP apps via Socks?

Thanks

Paul

Depends on the app, the connection speed to your server. In theory, yes. In practice, try it before you leave to get the kinks out

Too many tables you can't turn
Don't wanna live my life in the real world

Skype

Skype is already encrypted, works p2p and it's portable so wouldn't worry about putty for that.

I have used a SSH tunnel for Skype before - but only in some countries where it's 'banned' (Middle East - isn't everything banned there ?). And that was only to top up credit when the website had been blocked, the VOIP side worked fine

Not an issue in Europe

oh interesting

I am about to travel to KSA, Jeddah, have heard that skype doesn ot work there.

So you say it is just the website of skype which is blocked, but the actual service not?

Or did you use some non standard port or so?
