We already have

We already have OpenOffice.org which basically does the same thing.

Differs

OpenOffice.org has a different user interface.
Making it harder to use

Illegal

Modifying a commercial app to make it portable is illegal. And Microsoft would sue very quickly.

Also....

It would be impossible to do this, because of the astronomical amount of registry entries it makes, and how it intertwines with the OS. Also it either, Ofice 2003 or 2007, there is no 2006.

Microsoft Office Portable

The only way to make Microsoft Office portable (or better: virtualized) is using the new Thinstall (http://www.thinstall.com) but it costs $5.000 eh eh

Look at the office demo...

Any

software can be used this way, with virtualisation.
BTW, this topic is fairly old.
