A portable and fully functional edition of a programming language resembling an antique version of that language

e. g. a portable and fully functional edition of c++ 3.0 or delphi 2 or visual basic 6 ...

You know, you could just

You know, you could just install python or perl to your flash drive. it only takes about 100 mb.

What about an "old school" BASIC ?

I think about CBM BASIC V7.0 for example ( was running on the COMMODORE C=128 Computers ) or AMIGA BASIC V3.x or ( which i really would prefer against all others ) GFA-BASIC V3.6 ( my favourite for programming my ATARI STs and also available for AMIGA and PC )...
If someone could make such a BASIC-Interpreter work as a Portable App, i would be very happy, 'cause i already have tons of BASIC sourcecode... Wink

mingw is available. You

mingw is available. You could use Geany, or Eclipse, or Notepad++, or Code::Blocks Plus as an IDE.

You won't see any of the visual systems here, as they are proprietary to Microsoft. (though there are other versions of basic). You won't see any delphi products as they are proprietary to . . . Delphi! But you might look at lazarus.

You may also consider

You may also consider sharpdevelop that does VB.net if you don't worry about .net being available.

And I have just put a test release of wxDev-C++.

So you have quite some choice.

I didn't say "Visual Basic x.xx"...

I would mostly like an "old school" BASIC to be usable within the PA Suite... - It's easy to learn, so many people could make their own little programs...
As i never used any "Visual .....", i probably also wouldn't use a portable Version of that... - ...same to "Delphi"... - I once tried to start learning "old school" C... - ...but i gave up... - I know a little bit of Java... - ...but that's too less, yet...
It's possible to make a program running within the "Persistence of Vision Raytracer" Povray... - ...but there are just few "programming language functions" implemented, 'cause Povray ain't a programming language but a raytracer... - Do you know Conways "Game of Life" ? - "3dlife.pov" is a 3-dimensional version of that, wich runs within Povray and renders 1 Frame of an animation per Generation of "cells"... - ...but i won't try to make any program in Povray SDL ( ...Scene Description Language... ) which requires input via mouse or keyboard... - I think, this would require external programs and make all the things tooooo complicated...
I want it easy... - I vote for BASIC and prefer "GFA BASIC Portable"... Wink

Try...

Try FreeBasic. Don't know if it's portable or not though.

As for the original OP, I'd second Lazarus.

FreeBASIC...

I'll give it a try and test out, if it maches my needs and wishes... - As it's similar to MS Q(uick)-BASIC, it may be usable for me... - ...but i need an Interpreter and FreeBASIC is called a Compiler... - Maybe, it's a Compiler with an integrated Interpreter... - Then, i will probably have what i need, if it's portable, too... - As i already know QBASIC, i'll get along with FreeBasic, too, i guess... - I'll tell you, if you want... old BASIC

If you're talking about old Basic (like QBasic and Quick Basic), you can try QB64. It's portable (although not PortableApps compatible yet).
