I recently discovered portableapps.com. The site and the concept have a future. One of the first programs I looked for was a portable keyboard macro program, which would be very useful when going from computer to computer. I did not find one at portableapps.com. However, in searching the Internet I found AutoHotkey at http://www.autohotkey.com/. It is opensource and looks very promising, comes in an installer or in a zip file with the files (not an installer simply zipped). I request that AutoHotKey be looked at and, if possible, made into a PortableApp on this site.

AutoHotkey is already portable. Minimal requirement are the autohotkey.exe and a ahk-scriptfile or an compiled scriptfile alone

I tried AutoHotkey. It is not truly portable as is. It depends upon some registry settings. For example, some of the scripts that come with it will not run without certain registry settings. It would be nice if PortableApps.com looked at the program.

I'm but I have not check it with Regmon. I only use its "hotstring" funktionality on some PCs and don't notice its registry-dependency.
At www.portablefreeware.com there was now comment about registry isues.

MacroMaker seems to be a bit more autonomous: though it uses registry entries to store it's settings, it does not require installation. I just import my custom settings, and, when finished, import an uninstall entry. To be honest, i really don't think you'll ever find a really "portable" type of program like this, though this seems to be the closest I"VE come, so far, and it can be useful to have around at times...
I noticed that one of the other portable apps suites contains AutoIt which I've used for scripting at home. Is it, or can it be, less intrusive?
