Illustrator or Vector Based Apps

I have seen posts in the past referring to Adobe Photoshop for portiable app. I have seen it done for InDesign CS. But I have yet to see any information on Adobe Illustrator CS2. To me, having that program would be a huge advantage.

Has anyone attempted it? Or have any knowledge how that might be possible?

Can't

Due to licensing.
Try Portable Inkscape. Search the forums for it.

Well, if he does it himself and we just give him instructions, that's fine.

I suppose

But who has a copy of Illustrator?
I have moved all my stuff over to open source, like GIMP and Inkscape. (But that was mainly because I lost my license key ;))

I agree. Open-source is the way to go! Though since I hate The GIMP--and indeed, Photoshop-style interfaces in general--I'm still using the commercial Paint Shop Pro 7 (anything after 7 is bloatware). I like having windows that don't (and can't) obscure the toolbox. GIMP and PS aren't exactly 800x600-friendly. Sad

I actually like Photoshop's interface

and Paint Shop Pro. But not The GIMP's. I wish I could afford Paint Shop Pro here at home...

Don't bother with the new versions of Paint Shop Pro. They're bloated to hell. PSP7 was the last good version.

Yes, but

still costs money, which I don't have Wink
I actually use PSP9 at school, which is very bloated.

But hypothetically speaking,

But hypothetically speaking, if the single "install" copy existed on the thumb drive, instead of a computer would licensing truly be a problem per say? The main reason is because all the sign and banner work I do it would be nice to have my copy portable, useable wherever I am. That to me would be great.

I will take the suggust of Inkscape. Have not tried it. As long as it PDF'able I am sure that I do something with it.

Cannot stand GIMP for the life me. The interface is just too clumsy for me. I like the idea of it being opensource and really want to like it but when you have a copy of CS well...

There's no copyright issues if you do it yourself, as I stated previously. Copyright only applies to redistribution, so the issue only arises if someone else were to do it for you and then redistribute the entire application including the Illustrator binaries.

Gotcha

Sorry I misread your reply. I sort thought with my license for a single install it would not matter the platform.

Maybe I was not clear in my question. I realise that ditributing Adobe products is illegal. Was never my intent to get a copy. I honestly was just look to know if someone has attempted it like InDesign or Photoshop. I was just looking for, here is runner but you need to set your license or your files. Nothing more

You can post links

but if it's Adobe® Illustrator™, it's illegal, so I'd say not.

Where's the scoop?

If we are allowed to do this ourselves, are there any resources or information on how to do so?

I have Adobe CS2 and would like to make the whole thing portable, or atleast PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator. My employer has a license for me, and I have my own as well. Just looking for a way to create a portable workspace for work and home.

Illustrator CS2 & Photoshop CS2

Hello dudes..
I really need to know if there is a way to make Illustrator CS2 and Photoshop CS2 working in a portable device. I have the original programs but when I go college I really need those programs in some classes (that still uses poor and obsolete versions of illustrator and photoshop). So I need the 2 apps portable but of course it should not register any info into windows reg because the users at my college doesnt have administrator priveleges.

Maybe a launcher and a list of files that are needed (to work correctly) for both programs?

Waiting for a solution..
Regards,
Kormann

Admin Rights.....

are needed to run Adobe products portably. When adobe regsters itself on your PC it stores it registration info with the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe regsitry key. This key is not editable(Read:you cannot write or change it) by anyone who does not have admin rights. In fact the whole HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE tree is not editable. SO if you do not have admin rights the program will not start, as no registration was found.

If you do have admin rights, I had made a portable version od Photshop 7, by having the launcher write the registration settings on start and then launch the program. It work for the program, but I have stopped development due to trademark issues, so I have not messed with CS.

But again, without admin rights it will not work.

Damm I hate my college ;/ So

Damm I hate my college ;/

So there is no point in having adobe products if I need to have admin rights.. if it was possible to run the registry from a external file (instead of searching for the reg on windows) it would be cool as hell.. I guess I have to accept my situation Sad

thank you by the way.

I've Got It...

Hello-

I've got Illustrator and Photoshop CS (not CS2) working on my flash drive. I've downloaded it and got it working just fine. Let me know if you need the URL to download it.

Again...

It will work, IF and ONLY IF you have admin rights. Which most home users do. But, try it on a machine without admin rights and it will fail due to the registration.

Sorry, that is just the way it is, unless Adobe becomes a nice company and changes it. WHich I kinda doubt. Smile

Well

It is illegal to post a link, send it to someone, or even offer to send it to someone.
However, he could post a tutorial.
