I have been using Portable Firefox (and now Firefox Portable) as my main browser for several months, as I prefer to have everything saved in one folder.
The improvements in Firefox Portable 2.0 are terrific, however I often notice a considerable delay when closing tabs (with the middle mouse button) - occasionally as much as five seconds or so between clicking the mouse button and the tab closing.
Is this a known issue with Firefox Portable? I read one or two posts complaining about slow start-up times caused by Session Saving/Undo functionality. Yet the suggestions to change the Browser.sessionstore.enabled option appear to pre-date v2.0RC2. Furthermore, I am running the application locally, from harddisk so there should not be any slow-downs, surely?
For your information, this is a 'clean' Firefox Portable 2.0RC2 'installation', with the DOM Extension removed and just the RikaiChan extension added.

Fx 2 has a session manager that is enabled by default; simply turn it off. This has been covered already.

My apologies, it would appear that the unnecessary mouse software that came pre-installed on my office computer was conflicting with FireFox.
I did not wish to tamper with my company's systems, however after uninstalling the mouse software the delays when closing tabs are gone.
It is a moot point now, however I was unable to find a specific option to disable the session manager in the current Firefox release candidate (RC2).

At least not in any obvious way. It took quite a bit of searching to find out how to shut off session saving.

do you use FFP and not FF as your default browser?
And also, is it actually set in the registry as your default browser, or did you use the button in the Options?

I like the notion of having self-contained applications that do not required external files or registry entries. It allows me to backup software easily, moving it from system to system where necessary.
Unfortunately, I have yet to find an effective way of making PFF the default browser (short of editing each registry entry/file association manually), so am relying on opening PFF first, before clicking on other links (in emails, desktop shortcuts etc.)

to answer the default one, get my DefaultMyFFP (warning: direct download link).
(I am cunning, am I not ;))
I also like that, but another reason I use it is because it requires minimal installation.
