John's working on it

John's said he's talking to Opera about making a PAF version of it. I'm guessing the discussion will probably take a relatively long time, since both the Opera development team and the Opera legal team have to get everything lined up on their end, but it'll probably happen eventually.
Until then, you can use OperaUSB as ottosykora suggested.

Hunt The Link

Which basically links to OperaUSB and one other portable version. Blum I wonder if the existing "Opera Portable" is going to clash with a potential PA.c version. Pardon

Coming soon, I think

I was looking over the IRC logs today, and it looks like a PortableApps version of Opera is being actively worked on.
Of course, I can't guarantee anything, but it's possible Opera will be here soon.

Awesome

Just need an official Safari Portable as well and PA.com will have a fairly comprehensive browser compatibility test line up for web developers.

That's never going to happen

Safari Portable is never going to happen unless Apple does it themselves. Their EULA is super-restrictive, enough so that we can't even do an online installer.
Given Apple's love of locking people to specific hardware, I would be hugely surprised if they decided to do anything like loosen the Safari EULA or create a portable version of Safari.

Should have thought of that

Considering how hardcore they are on restrictions your probably right.

If one did make an online installer for it, Apple would probably send the Apple Police to kick in your door with a dodgey warrant and take your computers Gizmodo Style.

EDIT: Just realised since Chrome uses the same rendering engine, Webkit, theres no need for Safari anyway. Smile

Safari and IE

But everybody who wants Safari already has a Mac!

When Safari first came out, it looked impressive. But, it was Mac only, and alternatives to IE weren't looking so good (unless you were paying for Opera). I might have my timeline a little messed up, but that's how I remember it. Anyway, by the time Safari became available for PC, Firefox was building a lot of steam. Then Opera became free, then Chrome came out. All of a sudden Safari is a lot less relevant, outshined by Firefox, by Chrome, and by Opera.

So it seems like those who really want an operating system's default browser probably have that operating system already, and just want the browser portable so they can take their bookmarks on the go, in which case what they really need is some kind of bookmarks sync (Xmarks, Firefox Sync, etc).

I wish Chrome and Opera would be able to just use the system-set proxy like IE and Firefox can.

I'm pretty sure Chrome & Iron

I'm pretty sure Chrome & Iron already can use the system-set proxy; I just went into the Iron settings dialog and clicked "Change proxy settings", and the system Internet settings dialog came up.
I don't know about Opera, though, as I don't use it.
