Release Notes:
Dev-Test 1 (2010-08-02): Initial release
Successful update from previous dev test on XP SP3 with admin rights.
One small issue. I did a quick download conversion and the file was saved to X:\Documents\Video\DailyMotion\DamnVid despite my editing the preferences to save to X:\Documents\Temporary Storage. I reapplied preferences and still had the issue repeat.

That's being hard-coded by the launcher to store to that location...I might make it an .ini change instead of following the preferences though...I'll look into it.
Actually, what preference did you change in your config? After talking to the dev I need a bit more information to make sense of this one. (Steps to reproduce would be helpful )
1,) Fresh install.
2,) Launch DamnVid Portable.
3,) DamnVid>Preferences>DmanVid Preferences
4,) Change Default Output directory to from G:\Documents\Videos\DamnVid\ to G:\Documents\Temporary Storage.
5,) Repeat for Directly downloaded videos directory(screenshot).
6,) Go to a video page eg. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xe3vv4_idiot-boy_fun#hp-v-v6.
7,) Video will be automatically added to DamnVid job list.
8,) Start download and wait.
9,) When video download is complete it is downloaded to G:\Documents\Videos\DamnVid\Dailymotion (screenshot).
Also a possible base app bug is DVP is I couldn't get it to download from youtube. Hence the dailymotion link. Oh and Stop button doesn't seem to work. On both counts could just be impatience on my behalf.

I'll tackle the easy one first. For the Youtube module, you have to check for updates to update the module to the latest. There were changes made by Youtube that the updated module fixes.
I'll try to reproduce the issue and talk to the dev. I'll report back.
****EDIT****
I talked to the dev, and as the app stands right now, changing those main directories doesn't change it for each individual site. If you change the directory in the DailyMotion preference your settings should work fine. Those main prefs are just for (and I quote) "The directories in the main preferences panel are for converted local files."
On the pre-release status well done!
