Quick Launch

I have been using Portable Start Menu 3.1 for a while. One of the features I like about it is that I can type a keyboard shortcut and it gives me a "Quick Start" option where I can begin typing the name of the app I'm looking for and run it that way instead of having to use the menu - sort of like how Windows 7 does it.

I would like to start using the PortableApps.com menu, but have to have this functionality. Is this built into the menu anywhere, or is there another app I can use to accomplish this? I've tried Launchy and it's not quite as simple as I'd like. I don't need to search documents and stuff, just my portable apps to launch.

If anyone has any suggestions...

I'm a fan of Cylog Toolbox

It can be as simple or complex as you'd like, you can create shortcuts by drag-and-drop, convert to relative paths with a single click.

And the beta of the next rev is pretty stable and feature complete.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.

Excellent but...

I am a fan too but didn't the OP say that he/she wanted an app search feature? Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Toolbox has that. Although, the nature of the application is such that you shouldn't need it.

PStart and ASuite have an app search feature but it isn't as integrated as one might like when looking for such a feature. I personally don't feel the need to use it and I have 60+ programs on my menu, but each to their own.

I hate reffering to other menus

but here are a couple with search functionality:

geek.menu

CodySafe

I used geek.menu a really long time ago, but then I found CodySafe and switched to that, and after going through about a half a dozen other menus, I switched back to PAM. So I can't really give great reviews...

I do know CodySafe has a really fast searcher. IDK about geek.menu.

CodySafe Is Now Paid

In order to search in CodySafe, you have to pay for it. It's no longer free. The free version of CodySafe is now a feature-limited light version.
