PortableApps.com Launcher 2.0

What is PortableApps.com Launcher 2.0? Is it something to convert a standard application to a portable app or is there something that would do the same?

Yes

If you're asking what I think you're asking, yes. If you read the documentation on the page, it should provide you with the details of what it's for. It requires significant effort from you to make an app portable, nonetheless.

Open-source apps only?

Apologize for my stupidity. When I saw "Now you can make apps portable without writing a single line of code" I was expecting everything done with a click of of mouse or something similar.

By the way, do we only use open-source apps? I was thinking about getting Microsoft Outlook instead of Mozilla Thunderbird for the sake of easy use where we have both portable version and non-portable version the same.

Depends

Configuration is done in an INI file. If you read the PortableApps.com Launcher manual, you'll find it's all covered there.

The Launcher can be used for any app whose license doesn't forbid such wrapping (and some do - I believe Microsoft Office, for example, is tied by its license to a single computer, not just a single disk, unless you have the Enterprise version). Redistribution however is more restrictive; most freeware licenses don't allow redistribution of the app.
