How to submit a portable app?

Hi,

is it possible to submit a portable app to share it on portableapps.com?

Submit to the Beta Testing Forums

You should submit your package to the Beta Testing Forum. There are guidelines on how your post should be formatted.

The idea is that people will download the package and provide feedback. After the package has been reviewed it could become an official package. This generally takes a long time unless you are the app developer, and in that case I would suggest contacting John T. Haller, the founder of the site and he maybe able to work something out to speed along the process.

Optimism

This generally takes a long time

That's optimistic! ISTM that the only "portableapps.com offical" programs are written by John T. Haller or one of the admins. Practically all submissions by 3rd parties (including developers who support portableapps.com by going to the time and trouble of offering a portableapps.com packaged version of their software) get as far as being added to the "beta testing" list, at which point their efforts are ignored.

Not true

As far as I am aware, app developers who are moderators or administrators have only become so after the official release of an app; for example, two and a half years ago I was a "no-one"; then I put out a development test of BPBible; in the course of time, that was officially released, and some time late last year, if I recall correctly, I was made a moderator, and more recently still an administrator. There are other new developers who have an official app (or more than one) released who are still "just developers", such as prapper.

Currently things are going a bit slowly due to the work on the PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 and many business arrangements. Once these are taken care of, more apps from current and new developers will be being released. For more general information of these sorts of things, see the last status update. Most of what it says is still applicable.

I am a Christian and a developer and moderator here.
