    Crashing

I'm not sure if anyone else is having an issue or not, but this keeps crashing on me. I'm on Win7 x64. When I install it, it seems to work fine for about a day or so. And then the next time I boot up and plug my external in and try to run Launchy Portable it just simply crashes.

It's something with the launcher because it says "PortableApps.com Launcher not responding", and I can go into the App folder and run launchy ok from there.

It seems after it crashes, if I go into the app folder and run launchy manually, and then exit out that the launcher works again.

what's diff with respect to Nexus, ObjectDock, RocketDock ?

    http://winstep.net/Nexus.asp
    http://stardock.com/products/ObjectDock
    http://RocketDock.com

is Launchy same class/category of SW as these 3 ? better? or not so better?

since Launchy does some sort of indexing like Google Desktop and PA.c has been able to get permission to PAF Google Chrome, can some1 PAF Google Desktop? or are there alternatives to Google Desktop with same functionalities maybe even better?

Launchy , Xenon File Manager, FreeCommander...these 3 (or these other apps mentioned) have cross-functions/overlapping? Xenon File Manager has Portable File Assocations feature...NOW if can feature request BATCH~BULK renaming feature like FreeCommander, then I think Xenon would be better between the 2 (how to get in touch with Xenon's John Bentley https://portableapps.com/user/2307 ?). I'm trying to decide which 1 (or maybe more than 1) app(s) to add to my collection but still minimize that number as much as possible yet maximizing features/functionalities...but some1 please consider PAF'ing Google Desktop, Nexus, and/or ObjectDock please. THANKS!

If you go to the main site,

If you go to the main site, and try to use launchy, the difference is immediately shown.

The three programs you mentioned and linked to are all dock programs, you drag and drop items onto the dock, and can open it from there, pretty much a fancy style of a quick launch and able to fit more apps easily, with more customizable settings.

Launchy on the other hand, is a keystroke launcher, the main difference is you browse and select by keystrokes, you open it with a keystroke, put in a quick search, press enter, and your program opens, maybe you browse a bit, or do a google search, but generally all of this is done with the keyboard. That is the major difference. Check it out Blum there's a portable version already made, it's just it isn't in paf format. Have fun Biggrin

    Ready for Release?

    Hello,

Launchy works fine, so Launchy should be published as normal (not beta) portable app.
Then Launchy can be downloaded and updated via the portable apps platform.
Much more comfortable than searching for it manually here in the PortableApps.com test applications pages.

    Greetings

    OLLI

    Current vs Beta

Per the Launchy website the current release is considered 2.5 this release is considered the Beta release. Until they make it final I can not change it from Beta
