How do I get rid of this kind of parental control software?

Recently, when I surf on the internet, I find I cannot open some kinds of websites and also have some troubles accessing games applications. I'm bored and don't know why and how to do. Yesterday, I ran the AV software (my AV is Norton) on the computer, and I found a strange program like this: ...web blocker.exe.. I searched it on google and I found it was a parental control software called Aobo P*rn blocker. I guess my mom put it on my computer. With this parental control, I cannot do anything. I try to remove it but there is no use. It seems to have a password protection so that I cannot bypass it.
Anyone knows, help me please!
Thanks a lot.

That's pretty lame that your parents don't trust you.
But, do they have reason to distrust you?

If so, then I would personally suggest you ask someone else about that, because what you are doing is unjust, should you have reason for distrust, that is.

An error in your post

You have made an error in your post. The sentence:

I guess my mom put it on my computer.

should be changed to:

I guess my mom put it on my HER computer SHE LETS ME USE.

Yah, right

Sure....

I suppose anything is possible.

If your thoughts are correct, the information provided in the original post would have been quite different, don't you think?

Didn't say

The original poster didn't say:

"My mom snuck into my house last week and put this software onto the computer she sold me a month ago."
-or-
"My mom had this software on the computer she sold me."

Honestly, if he has possession and total control (as in administrative and/or physical rights) over his own computer, then he doesn't need to explain his predicament about what his mom has put on his computer.

Since we're in the off-topic area, I guess we can't be hit for wandering into an un-related discussion, but this shows we have too much time on our hands. Besides, all this typing is keeping me away from game and p*rn sites.

The computer could be the

The computer could be the kids (he bought it or it was given to him). Even if the computer is his the parent has a right to install something on the computer to block the kid from viewing stuff he should not be looking at.

Mine and yours

Does he/she sleep in his/her bedroom, in his/her house or does his/her mother pay the mortgage/rent? Just asking. Smile

It's all moot anyway, as was stated above if he/she is a minor then his/her parents have every right to dictate what material is acceptable and what is not, and if the child doesn't like it then he/she can undertake legal proceedings to become an emancipated minor... good luck with that!

I agree with bluesteam

Talk to your mother. I suspect she had some reason for putting it on there, although I think she should have talked with you first to let you know she would be doing that and why. Sounds like you two need to get reacquainted and open some lines of communication, *talk* to each other instead of going behind each other's back. You'd be amazed how much better life becomes for everyone.

Cheers!

Removing the Blocker

Simple! All you have to do is restart your computer and boot it in safe mode. How do I do that? GOOGLE IT!!!!

Now you have full admin rights and you can browser the web. Better yet you can delete or uninstall but that might not work as it might have a password. But you can delete the files in program files and now you can restart in normal mode or just carry on using safe mode and completed. Its all done Smile

Its always easier when you know how.

IIRC, you will need the

IIRC, you will need the password to login into safe mode. Microsoft might be stupid, but they aren't that stupid.

You *could* try pressing ctrl+alt+delete twice, then login in as Administrator. Most people are to stupid to put a password in there. I think Microsoft fixed that with Windows 7 though.

Blocked

His mother probably blocked access to this site because he was trying to get info on defeating her system.

Well, we ARE in the Off Topic area, so I guess anything is fair game. Why bother with a lock?

Re: how to remove said blocker.

To cut though the fog , if said person in question bought said laptop with their own finances they have the legal right to determine what they want and or don't want on said device, no if ands or buts.

How I would suggest removing said blocker is to create a bootable thumb drive that runs Linux or operating system of choice. Find said blocking program and delete it.

Another suggestion I have is to use Malwarebites to help remove said blocker

( sorry if someone allready covered this or overly late)

I agree that the owner of the computer should have the right to decide what software resides on the computer, unless the user is a minor.

I think MOM should get some knowledge and set up a hardware firewall with content filtering or set up an account with OpenDNS and allow their filters to do the heavy lifting.

type of blocker , good idea.

I agree with your sugestion on choise of blocker, but at the same time I partly disagree with you on the age ishue, due to having to deal with a simmlar problem myself.

There is a aqward point every parent and child reaches. At thoes times a parent should be a guide insted of trying to be a wall.
