Firefox Portable writes information in C:/documents and settings

Firefox Portable writes profiles in C:/documents and settings/username/applicationdata/mozilla.
This information is not erased on exit or removal of the usb-stick.
I don't like to leave traces on a hostcomputer.
how can I avoid that?
Is it better to use use a U3 usb-stick?

Are you running firefoxportable.exe or firefox.exe?

You need to run firefoxportable.exe.

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong :D.

Correct

I don't see why people do that.

Firefox.exe vs Firefoxportable.exe

My USB key is a U3 enabled thumb drive, which means I downloaded and installed FF Portable with the file provided by U3 (firefox_u3_1.5.0.70_en-us.u3i).

I cannot find any trace of firefoxportable.exe on the drive--only firefox.exe.

I don't know why this is, but I've narrowed down the problem (I think): It's likely that the drive is writing info to the local disk of the various computers I'm plugging into, because Firefox will remember my setting and extensions through multiple opens and closes, but not if I restart the computer (I am in a computer lab)--which boots clean from an image. How do I fix this? Should I scrap the U3 installation and go with the one located at portableapps.com? Thanks...

FF for U3

First off, you're posting in an existing thread about Firefox Portable (the one that runs from any drive including U3 - just not in the Launchpad). What you're having an issue with is Firefox for U3, which is a DIFFERENT application. Please post a new note in the U3 Apps Support forum detailing exactly what you're seeing including the drive you have, the files you're seeing written, any extensions you have, etc.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Ahhh, my bad. Shoot, I hate

Ahhh, my bad. Shoot, I hate it when commenters do that. I even tried to scan through the most recent threads to find something relevant, and this seemed the most likely. Sorry!
