I have given your new GoldenDict Portable a test-drive, and all looks good. I have loaded up a few extra dictionaries, with good results. I like this app, as it is inherently portable, and is probably one of the most versatile dictionary programs out there.
One of the things that may need thinking about is to provide some brief instruction on how to add dictionaries. I see that you move the dictionary folder (actually named "content") when the app runs. After the app terminates, the "content" folder is moved back to \PortableApps\GoldenDictPortable\Data\ from \PortableApps\GoldenDictPortable\App\GoldenDict\. This is all as it should be. However, if a user wants to add a new dictionary, he/she may go looking for the \PortableApps\GoldenDictPortable\App\GoldenDict\content\ folder, which has been moved to the ...\data\ location after the app has been terminated.
I don't know if I have been clear enough - but there probably needs to be a brief explanation for new users describing how to add an additional dictionary, because the the Portable version of GoldenDict now requires the dictionary to be added into the ...\data\contents\ folder after the first run(?) Alternatively, you could leave an empty ...\contents\ folder in the "usual" GoldenDict location after the app terminates, which can allow a dictionary to be added at any time in the usual way, that can be picked up when GoldenDict Portable runs, and is then copied to the ...\data\content\ folder going forward. It's important not to keep two separate full sets of the dictionary files due to the waste of USB key space.
Anyway, great effort. The minor tweak mentioned may assist. This app should find itself into the approved list of apps sometime very soon. Thank you for being so responsive to my request. The simple launcher configuration needed for GoldenDict Portable illustrates the beauty of the new launcher concept. Goodbye to NSIS for most of us!

I see what you mean.
I think most PortableApps users already know where to find an app's data, but I also don't recall many other apps requiring users to manually edit stuff in the data folder. I'll add a note to help.html in DT2; do you think that would be enough?
I don't think I'll do that, sorry. That has the potential to get pretty complicated, and a note in help.html would be much simpler without forfeiting any functionality.
I completely agree.
With handcoded NSIS launchers, I could maintain maybe a dozen apps, tops. With PAL, I'm handling over 20 apps and I'm still working on more. I also don't have to worry about bugs in the code, unlike my old handcoded launchers.
IMHO, PAL is the way of the future.
