Application: BestPractice
Category: Music & Video
About:
BestPractice is a musician's practice tool, to slow down or speed up music, either from an MP3 file or directly from a CD. Ordinarily the sound is distorted when slowed down our sped up - you get the effect like when playing a 33 rpm record on 45 rpm speed (remember the Chipmunks?). BestPractice tries to correct this, so you can slow down and speed up music, while keeping the original pitch. It is also possible to change the pitch of the music without affecting its tempo. Play along with for instance Eb tuned guitars without retuning your own, or slow down that high-speed guitar solo on a CD that you like to learn.

Notes:
Being a musician myself (casually at least), I find this tool very useful for learning new songs. if you slow down mp3 files too much they'll start sounding bad but that's just because mp3s don't have the full data from the cd in them.

All else looks good, you're getting better with the small stuff, thanks, it's so muc less typing.
I always miss something when i'm copying and pasting like mad. . Is there supposed to be an AppSouce.txt? there isn't one in John's apps i've looked at like vlc or notepad++
Yes there is, I believe you looked at some of the few apps he forgot to add it to.

Hi, I translated into Spanish some of the programs of portableapps and correcting bad translations.
This program has a number of translation errors.
Here you leave my translation: Http://www.mediafire.com/?eyxmx18tx2g
thanks, but you renamed the language file so i'm not sure if you want me to rename it back and replace the es default.mo file or put it in its own folder.
Hello, sorry. You can rename the file and replace it default.mo
what happened to this project?
seems to work flawlessly, even the installation.
so will it ever become 'official'?

I'll take a look at getting this up to date.
I was using this program for a long time - it is good but has not been updated by the developer for a long time.
About a year ago I found an even better program - this one will even let you record the altered (slowed down or pitch changed) mp3 to a new version which makes it even better for practise because you don't have to remember what adjustments that you had made to a particular song previously.
It is called "Guitar Practise" and is available on Sourceforge.

In conjunction with this program, I uses another brilliant program called "GuiTools" it has a guitar tuner, chord finder, metronome/drum machine & a few other toys.
Check it out here:

thanks for the info.
my main interest is the portability, these two progs seem to offer it, but i'd really like to have something, which really integrates with portable.apps.
i'll tra them anyway.
BTW: BestPractice lets you also save your altered files. the quality is... comme ci comme ca...
