Has anyone here had any trouble with RegShot on Windows 7?
I usually do my PortableApp development on a WinXP VM, but the graphics drivers don't work for some games, so I tried running RegShot on Windows 7 and it stops responding, never to return. I tried running it as administrator, but that didn't fix the problem. Has anyone else had this problem?
Are there any other programs with similar functionality that other people have used that might work on Windows 7?
Thanks,
Andy
I had the same thing happen when I went to Win7.I switched to Regshot 2.It works fine with Win7. Just Google for Regshot 2.

How legit is RegShot 2? It's not from the original SourceForge project, and I can't seem to find it's home page. The links I've been able to find for it are dead.
As far as I remember, it's not legit. Someone else basically took the source, did their own thing with it, and didn't release the new source, if I recall the situation correctly.
I just downloaded Regshot from SourceForge and ran it on my Win7 Pro 32-bit and 64-bit systems with no problems.

I've been running Windows 7/64 since it was released and no problems with RegShot.
Regshot development is active again. A lot of bugfixes, and finally a stable 64-bit build is available.
Try the following binaries (the source is the same as the SF repo)

You're not the only one. I've personally seen it not working on one Vista machine (got stuck in a loop while scanning the registry), and I believe scriptdaemon from these forums also had trouble with it on Vista/Seven. Though it runs well for majority...

I was ecstatic when the other poster noted it's in development again. I hope it fixes the issues we seem to have with it.
If I recall correctly, John said it might have to do with very large registries, which could explain why some users have had problems while others have not.
Back then, other registry products also had similar problems. Quoting Nir Sofer:
Similar story with ZSoft Uninstaller, though I believe they never patched their program. Probably couldn't replicate, and never bothered. Now, if you could somehow test if that reg key is to blame and report to RegShot developers, that might just be it

There were a lot of bugs present. Now everything runs more smoothly. There are plans for full unicode builds at some point. So keep an eye on the development and feel free to use the builds from the GC project.
