install by copy?

When I set up my first USB stick I ran PortableApps.com_Suite_Setup_1.6.1_English.exe. Will it work if I set up another one by copying from one stick to another or to a portable drive or to an external drive all the files including the hidden files and the system files if there is any? Does any file need to be at the root directory? Do the locations of the files really matter?

Same path OK

It's OK for you to copy from one drive to another, provided you copy to the same path - copying D:\* to E:\* is fine, but you should avoid D:\* to E:\Something\*. The former is just the same as having a different drive letter, but the latter can break some of our apps, so it's not recommended that you do it at all.

Which apps would it break?

I've done this multiple times, and have yet to see any official app break from changing to a subfolder.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.

Songbird

Songbird is the perennial example, but others have minor breakages and one or two others don't work properly with it at all. And it's unsupported behaviour.

Thanks for the response!

I apologize for being unresponsive for so long. For some reason I didn't receive any notice of any response to this thread though I had with my previous thread.
