Thunderbird message filters
How can I examine and revise the good state of thunderbird message filters ?
How can I identify the filters that don't function well ?
Best Regards

Have you tried Tools/Filters to see what's there?
Have you tried enabling the Filter log?
Are the filters working like you think they should?

1. No
2. No
3. No
The filters don't go well. Somewhere I read there is a text file containing the filters I can edit with a text pad.
I need a link to know what to do. Understand the structure of the filters.
I will try 1. and 2.

I have a lot of filters associated to some of my accounts.
But editing with the assistance don't reveal any problem. Nevertheless not all messages download and are not filtered.
Do you know more tools to work with filters ?

I'm sorry, but I don't know any other way of working on the filters other than using the tools menu in Thunderbird.
Right after I save a new or changed filter, I select it (so it is highlighted) and then click on the "Run Now" button. If it doesn't work as I wanted, I edit the filter and run it again. Repeat as necessary.
Along those lines, you can uncheck all of the filters so nothing runs. Then as messages come in, you can highlight and manually run each filter to see if it works on the inbox (or whatever) as you want.
The filter log helps to track down issues, too.
Edit: In the Profile\Mail\Local Folders subdirectory, there is a plain text file called msgFilterRules.dat. It looks like someone could edit the file using a text editor. I personally would not do that unless you were sure you knew exactly what you were doing, and even then make sure that Thunderbird is closed before manually playing around in the files. Oh, and be sure to make a copy of the original file before starting out, just in case something blows up.

means what?
Are you working with the filters from thunderbird or from your original email provider?
What's not working, like all of them on demand/manual or all of them automatically when you start thunderbird?
You should try out the steps the other person said too, tweak each one one at a time.

OLD POST:
Each time I installed version 3.1.2 today it overwrote my msgFilterRules.dat file. So all of my message filters are gone. If there's a problem with the installation software, please fix it.
Any way to get back my message filters?
This is a serious problem.
*** CORRECTION -->
I just realized the problem. The file was touched by the installation, but I had to select an account when I opened up the message filter tool, in order to see the list of filters.
The real problem is that I have to select an account every time I open the tool before I can view the filters. Previously, I didn't have to select anything.

where the filters had to be done manually, differently from before. I do have it now set to run on checking mail though, so it runs when I enter the account, which is soon enough.
If you want filters run before you actually open thunderbird, you have to set those up directly on your email provider.
I do have the Run Filters on Folder button, which puts a button on the toolbar, which is good enough of a shortcut for my needs. I use the one with the oil separator/funnel icon.

I will comment.
I think is a bug from version 3.1.2
