it seems that there have been a couple of releases since i signed up for email notifications and i havent been recieving them.(Yes i have looked in my junk folder).

There are no email notifications from this website. There's a (not so) monthly newsletter you can sign up for.
If you mean the SourceForge notifications, those are highly unreliable. I'd say about 50% of the time after I do a release and attempt to send the notification, SourceForge gives the "SRS Email Notification Failed" error. I'll usually try three times or so. If it continues to fail, I move on.
The *best* way to monitor new releases is to watch this site's RSS feed. You'll see the little orange button in the lower-right of every page.
