show only files which are affected by a function

I am a new Toucan user (3.0.3) and I would highly appreciate whether an option could built in which allows to show only the files affected by any function (copy, mirror, equalize, move, clean).
This option can be very useful for updates with many and deep sub-directories to check at a glance all files affected by an update. This is especially of paramount importance for files which will be deleted by an operation. E.g. Synchronizer by www.aborange.de has realized such a possibility.
Kind regards,
Christoph

Does

the checkbox labelled 'Preview only Changes' not do what you want?

Thanks for the hint. It

Thanks for the hint. It works. Just a proposal which I think is very useful:
Would it be possible to program one function which contains the current function 'Mirror' and 'Equalize' at the same time? This would be of great help since it would show at one glimpse not only the newly edited files but also the new files added. Thank you for your great work in this matter.

No, it doesn't

The checkbox labelled 'Preview only Changes' works only for the upper directory. It has the effect to display only changes in the selected 'source' and 'destination' directories but not in sub-directories Sad
If I uncheck the 'Preview only Changes' option and redo a Preview, I can see the changes I liked to see in the sub-directories by expanding them manually.

I'm new to Toucan and this was disappointing because I have some deep folder trees to sync and don't want to search in them everytime to check if Toucan will not delete something I need. When I enabled the 'Preview only Changes' option, I was expecting Toucan to automatically show and expand sub-directories that contains files that have been modified. I'm hoping this will be corrected in a future version, but it's not the case of 3.0.2.

I tested this issue with Toucan 3.0.2 on Windows XP Pro SP3.

I'll track this thread, so post when the problem is fixed or if you need more information from my test.

I agree

The problem with not displaying changes in sub-directories exists in Toucan version 3.0.3 Pre-Release as well.
I also hope this error can fixed soon in the next version.
Thanks in advance doing this relevant job.

I wasn't aware it doesn't

I wasn't aware it doesn't show sub directories. I just thought it doesn't work well.

I really hope it will be fixed soon. It's a Must Have feature.

Toucan 3.0.3 Pre Release 4 still doesn't work properly

The synchronization of version 3.0.3 PreRelease 4 still doesn't work properly.
Even if you tick the option ' Preview only Changes' it shows you all directories and not only the files affected with the path, hence it doesn't allow one to see all files affected at a glance.

I

am aware of this. Pre-release 4 was a lot better than past release in my opinion, I should have another pre-release out today that improves it further.

So

I am pretty certain that the preview and previewing only changes should now work fine (in pre-release 5). Once you have selected your folders and checked the box to preview only changes you can click preview and only files that are modified, created or deleted should be listed, in the correct folder. By clicking the Expand All button you can quickly see all the changes that are happening.

Pre-Release 5

downloaded and installed over pre-release 4.

It looks like "Preview only changes" files is now working. However, there are some annoyances/bugs that still need fixing.

Destination view still shows only first level folders without any indications of modified folders/files

When clicking on Expand all in the destination pane to see what folders/files will be modified, the system becomes gradually unresponsive as more and more folders are expanded. All other running programs slow down, the mouse becomes sluggish and unresponsive and eventually comes to a "hang". This is strange because the Task manager tells me that CPU usage never goes beyond 5%. I have to kill the Toucan.exe process to regain control and response.

Suggestions for improvement:

1. A progress indicator during preview so that we know when the preview activity of comparing the source and destination folders has completed.

2. A Stop/Cancel button for the preview so that it can be stopped if it is taking too long.

Possible bugs:

1. Expand all function at Destination in Preview causes system to become unresponsive even though CPU indicates less than 5% and system idle is >90%

2. Some "modified" files appear duplicated in the destination display. I can forward a screenshot if you wish.
