369 inst file crashes

have tried to download it few times, it looks as it downloads fine, but when I start it, it crashes and installation not possible. Windows wants send report, this are the contents:
AppName: firefoxportable_3.6.9_english.paf.exe AppVer: 3.6.9.0 ModName: system.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 000018ed

Tried to switch this and that off, but tsill no cure somehow. Run it on XP, sp3.

Just Ran It

I just ran it and it worked fine from a fresh SF download. Did you check the MD5 sum (most likely your download got corrupted and each time you attempt to redownload, it's just getting the same corrupted copy from your browser's cache).

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Works for me too on Windows 7, no problems here.

no idea so far

md5 is ok, tried also download with other browser, but still the same crash present. Must be something strange running on my system here. Will try on other PC later. Other updates work ok, only the ff369 makes trouble this time.

Same problem here -- two possible causes

I wonder if there is a linguistic problem. I am in Canada, have PortableApps.com in French and tried to auto-update. Three or four applications were successfully updated, but Firefox was not.

I don't know what language Otto Sykora is using (German, perhaps), but judging from the other two names who had no problem, I suspect they were using an English version.

Another possibility:
Firefox was open when I tried to do the update. Not Firefox Portable, just the regular "fixed" one. Maybe both share common resources that cannot be updated.

Note. It is the first time I have problems with auto-update. I don't remember if I updated automatically Firefox to version 3.6.8, and if so, whether or not Firefox (fixed) was open.

P.S. I have updated Firefox portable the traditional way, by downloading the current edition of Firefox portable 3.6.9 and installing it on my USB key. During that time, Firefox ("fixed" edition) was open on my computer.

English version + No PAM

I don't use the PAM, so I downloaded and updated using the traditional installer. I also confirm I'm using the standard English version. No locales or "foreign languages".

details

I managed to run the installation (well, update the old-fashion way) on my other PC.

Both run XP-SP3 in german, while the usb stick portable apps I use all in english.

On one PC, a laptop with very few items installed and running, the installing exe simply crashes, the XP wants send report to MS. Happens just second after clicking on the exe.

Today, on other PC, also with XP , no problems at all, the usual start, dialog for path and installation ok, even I have to admit this PC is somehow older and is quite 'overloaded' with lot of things on it.

So it might well fight with some small parts of windows or some software installed.

And no, other local firefox was definitely not run during the attempts to start the install exe.
