beginner question

hello i just signed up on this site and was interested in knowing if i used firefox with my own bookmarks, gimp, openoffice, amsn, vlc player or any other program from portableapps to surf the net and view my media on my friends computer, will i leave any traces behind on his computer?

You won't leave any obvious traces. Windows has various components that record or show evidence of use and are unavoidable such as swap files, system/application logs and other operating system level mechanisms. To that end, PortablesApps apps are not "stealth" apps. However, as far as most users are concerned your apps will not leave any casual traces behind like temp files, bookmarks, cookies or other easily visible traces.

So in other words, unless your friend really wants get very technical and snoop at a very low level (highly technical) then he won't have any record of your usage of portable apps on his computer. That's the whole point of PortableApps, to use any computer without polluting them with your own personal data.
