I saw about your site a couple of days ago, and I'd like to try these apps out. But I've been unable to download *anything* from the sourceforge repository "kent.dl.sourceforge.net" for almost 48 hours. What's up?
1) Are extended outages like this normal? When can I download these apps?
2) Why are you using only one sourceforge repository? Why not use several? Redundancy will help you avoid things like this in the future.

Same here. I cant download any Portable App from Sourceforge, only 1 mirror ( kent) and it seems that the mirror is down! Does anyone know how to fix it?
Sounds like a SourceForge problem, not something on PA's end. Practically every app I've seen hosted on SourceForge lists Kent as the only mirror, though I don't know why that's so. Mayhap it has something to do with SF's recent upgrades or whatnot. In any case, there's no news at all from SF about what's happening, so I guess we're stuck. =/
I don't suppose anyone's willing to make a temporary mirror for PortableApps — at least until SourceForge gets its problems sorted out? Even a simple Rapidshare upload would be much appreciated. =^^=
I have no problem with sourceforge. It might be your connection, I can't tell with your discription of the problem. try again and use the top listed mirror, it is usually the fastest at that moment.
Hey there is no "Toplisted"- Mirror, there is only one mirror, the kent mirror. And i dont think that it is a connection problem.

I am having the same problem and here is how I solved it. First, I have not had much luck with the portable version of Mozilla so, using IE V7, find the program you want to download and when you get to the page where the Mirrors are you will see at the top, the name of the file, i.e.
----
Your download should begin shortly. If it does not, try http://kent.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/portableabiword/AbiWord_Porta... or choose a different mirror
----
Right click on the file name and select "Save Target As"
It should start the download and ask you to select a folder for the download. If it does not start, then navigate to the folder you want to download to and right click again inside the folder and "Paste" - that should start the download.
I noticed a problem late yesterday. Again when I checked this morning the problem was still there. Well I have just had another look at a few programs on sourceforge and everything is back as it should be, although there is no official notification of what or why there was only the one mirror (Kent) which just didn't work.

SourceForge will have occasional issues with mirrors or incorrect download links. They're usually cleared up in under an hour or so. It's unfortunate, but that's just the way SourceForge is.
Keep in mind that they're providing PortableApps.com with $20,000 in free download bandwidth every month. I can't afford to host the downloads at the moment.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Mmm, you're right. Everything's fine now, so it seems like it was only a minor hiccup. I wasn't suggesting moving away from SourceForge, though (just to make it clear). SF's been pretty stable for the most part, and when you think about it, it's been a lifesaver for the opensource community. Without SourceForge, I don't think opensource would have flourished like it did. =^^=
