Opera Portable memory hog.

I am using the new Opera Portable and it is using major RAM. 450 MB in a few min of browsing. I have been using Opera USB for years and the current version uses much less RAM. Must be a leak some where.

Version

The only cause I can think of is a difference in the version that you've used - that you've been using an older version of Opera@USB, but now are using a recent version of Opera with Opera, Portable Edition. We don't make any changes to Opera itself; all such things are issues in Opera. But it's becoming quite normal for browsers to use half a gigabyte of memory with great ease nowadays.

Both are 10.62. There is

Both are 10.62. There is something clearly different though because there is a huge difference in memory use.

No Changes

Opera itself is completely unchanged. We disable the disk cache but leave most other settings intact.

I launched both side by side and both took 50MB of RAM on my Windows 7 machine.

They both launch pretty close

They both launch pretty close but the RAM climbs very quickly when I start browsing. Did you try browsing side by side to identical pages and see if there is a difference?

I launched them side by side and browsed to identical pages. Looked at the RAM in Process Explorer and Opera Portable was well over twice the RAM usage from Opera USB.

I would love to switch to Opera Portable I hope I can get to the bottom of this.
