Forum suggestion

I've seen a couple of people asking for a separate Support sub-forum for whatever app it is they are wanting one for, and usually the answer is that it is not going to happen otherwise we would end up with eleventy-billion Support sub-forums, which I completely agree is a bad idea.

However, I also think having sub-forums for 20 different apps and one for everything else is almost as bad.

So here is the suggestion: We have the apps currently sorted into categories: Accessibility, Development, Education, Games etc. so why don't we have the support sub-forums separated the same?

Just an idea, tell me what you think....

Not a bad idea.

Not a bad idea. The really popular apps like Firefox and Thunderbird should still have their own sub-forums, though.

Already Planned

This is already planned and has been discussed a couple times in the forums. We just need to get around to moving all the posts to the proper places. We'll be retaining the separate forums for major apps like FF and OO.o, though.

Slightly off-topic

I bet the discussion about what is a "major app" brings out the fanboy in all of us. Smile One of the things that makes me glad that PortableApps isn't a democracy!

PS That might have sounded snarky; I meant it sincerely.

Post Level

Heh. It's more objective, actually. It's based on overall userbase and post level. For example, PuTTY, KeePass, 7-Zip, Nvu, AbiWord, Audacity, and Sudoku are losing their own forums in the process as their post levels are low. Google Chrome is getting its own forum as post levels are high.

I kind of was wondering how I

I kind of was wondering how I could have been the first to have had such a simple idea, I did search first, but I didn't have much time at the time, and the word support is one of this site/forum's most used words.
