[Released] DShutdown Portable 1.72.1 Development Test 4

Application: DShutdown
Category: Utilities
Description:

DShutdown is a stand-alone program that allows you to easily shutdown and wake up local or remote PCs, with many specific options.

DShutdown supports more than just standard shutdown options, there are options relating to "pure" shutdown (such as the "force after wait" option which causes a forced, but 'clear' shutdown). There are monitoring options that allow you to shutdown a PC after a particular application terminates (useful at the end of compressing several files). There are also options to shutdown a PC when Internet traffic reduces below a particular data-rate (useful to shutdown a PC when it has finished a large download).

It is also possible to intercept a shutdown request, initiated by the user or an application, and to then execute the shutdown request with selected options from DShutdown. (For example: to simultaneously shut down all Lan PCs when the server shuts down).

DShutdown doesn't force a power-off without logging off and saving settings. DShutdown instead provides a means to log-off, shutdown and safely power-off your PC. Administrators who use roaming profiles will appreciate the benefits of this feature.

Nice job! The tool comes in

Nice job!
The tool comes in handy for some unattended system care jobs, I have to carry out sometimes.
Regshot is fine (WinXPPro SP3).

Thanks, DJ

Updated.

Added language switching. I'll have DTaskManager and DSynchronize updated soon as well.

Also, since the icon is rather bad quality, would there be any problems with changing the icon for the package if the base app is freeware? I was thinking about using http://www.iconfinder.com/icondetails/18218/128/shutdown_icon

@ChrisMorgan I moved the Language folder into the DShutdown folder to keep it consistent with other apps.

Nice to have but...

... my OS is german and so the german locale is switched to automatically. No problem so far, but the translation is a little uncommon at best - I often have to refer to the english translation to get what is meant. Is it possible to disable language switching, or make it optional?

Or maybe I have to try and do an new translation...

I'll ask Chris.

It would be awesome to get new translations though if the current ones are lacking. Have you tried DTaskManager or DSynchronize? I wonder if the German translations for those are lacking as well.

Ready

I tried to make a better one. Download German.lng MD5:da2eb602ca446f4cbf2ea0e2fd012d65

I'm not sure if I got everything right, some features I could not test so I hope I hit the right translation (some options are somewhat hard to guess because even their english strings are not all obvious).
There are still some bugs in the translation engine (after enabling the timer the button stays in english) and some strings could not be translated.

Maybe some other german speaking user could check it (Simeon?).

I don't speak German so I can't test this. If someone else can verify, I'll replace the official one to this one. Perhaps you can also speak to the developer about this as well?

Platform 2.0

In the Platform 2.0 there will be an option to disable language switching for a particular app. Until then, the most practical solution is to delete the German language file.

Should I delete the German language file from the app entirely?

No

They're there in the original app so it's best to leave them as is.
