a look at it.

In Rev 2. the contests of autoexec.cfg get copied into init.cfg instead of being used on their own.
It means they become permanent instead of being dynamic.
Even more so, the contests of init.cfg are sorted alphabetically, which breaks the scripts inside autoexec.cfg.
Please fix it. Until you do, my scripts in autoexec.cfg are unusable. Even more so, I must rename autoexec.cfg to something meaningless so it won't be used.
There is nothing in our code that modifies either file. The only modification to the app is an alteration in the .bat file to point it to the relative \Data path. If anything else is going on, it'd be AssaultCube itself doing it.
EDIT - I've deleted your duplicate post twice now. Only one post in one thread is necessary.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Could you post your file here or send it to me via the email displayed in my profile?
I tried autoexec.cfg with a simple name line and it always used the name I put there no matter what I had in the other files.
Besides that, where did you put your autoexec.cfg file?
It should be inside the data/settings/config folder so it doesn't get overwritten on upgrade.

It doesn't use the autoexec.cfg from J:\PortableApps\AssaultCubePortable\App\assaultcube\config ? it is using it from there, that is where I just found mine, and I am sure I read that is where to put it when I first got AC, BUT, the version I am using when I go to the about tab in game says V 1.0 (I think) because it's blurry, any way to tell for sure ? I do have the portable 1.0.4 but can't remember if I installed it or not ):, was hoping the about tab would show V 1.0.4 if I did. The AssaultCubePortable.exe I am using is file version 1.6.0.0 and 132 kb.
The easiest way fo find out about your version id to hover over the entry in the portableapps.com menu. or have a look at D:\PortableApps\AssaultCubePortable\App\AppInfo\appinfo.ini
It uses the autoexec.cfg inside /App/assaultcube/config but this has 2 downsides:
1)it gets overwritten on update
2)it gets overruled by the one in /Data/settings/config which is preserved on update.
And I'd update to the latest version

Before I comment. when I type /exec autoexec with or without .cfg it always says can't read autoexec, why is this ? Although it does load it on start up, because I edit it and it works. I went to the AC irc channel someone said to do a /exec config autoexec, I tried that and that isn't right, even doing a exec config says can't read config. Back to the comment, that would explain my situation, I put an autoexec in both those directories, I have been editing the one in/Data/settings/config and it loads it when I start the game. My appinfo.ini says, [Version] PackageVersion=1.0.4.0 DisplayVersion=1.0.4. I have been reading in the AC forums there are quite a few that are not so happy with 1.1.0.4 and even 1.1.01, so they are using the older version, although it might be 1.1.0.1 but maybe even my version I have to look again, it seems like there are not many servers with my version.
It cant read it because it isnt there
You need to enter the full path starting from the /settings folder.
In your case that would be "/exec config/autoexec.cfg".
That worked for me.
Looks like you are using the old 1.0.4 version.

Hi There, I am specifically looking for a Portable 1.0.4 version, but, is the some place to download any older portable versions ?
You can download them all from our Sourceforge page.

Hey thanks, I searched all over there and a few different terms, it never finds anything for me. Assaultcube never shows portable versions, assaultcubeportable, assaultcube portable, assault cube portable shows nothing.
to search. It should take you directly to the page where you can download Assaultcube Portable 1.0.4. Direct link is http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Assault%20Cube%20Port...
But I found the but in the current 1.1.0.1 and will send an update version to John soon. I forgot something so it would never use the settings in the /Data folder but inside /App instead.

Can anyone please post his/her file here or send it to me via the email displayed in my profile?
This would really make my life easier and increase the possibility that this bug is fixed in the next version.

You want a autoexec.cfg ?...I don't see a email per say in your user profile. What did you need one for ? I know you have your own
lwc reported a problem with autoexec.cfg, especially when it contains scripts.
As I never used that file, I just tried a simple one wíthout any scripts involved and it did work so I am now looking for an "actual" file which I can test and see if my method of portabalisation breaks anything.
The address is portableapps §ät§ gmx §point§ de

for the file.
One problem I have is that I cant move/look around using the mouse I am stuck with a fixed view. Same happens with the local install so I guess its deliberate.
So far I haven't found a problem related to the portable version.

with my autoexec.cfg ?
When I move the mouse the image on the screen doesnt move with it.

I'm not looking at it right this second, but I am darn sure, my autoexec doesn't have any settings in it, (for the most part), pretty much say binds, maybe network and model or name things like that. although maybe mouse sensitivity might be in there and it might be low, but that wouldn't do it, all my video settings and all that would be in the basic cfg, and I believe that would include any mouse look settings and stuff.
