.nfo files seem to be just text files. So just use Notepad or Notepad++ Portable or something like that.
I am a Christian and a developer and moderator here.
“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” – Proverbs 15:1
I believe they're somewhat of an "art-form", typically making extensive use of ASCII art, so many text viewers don't display them nicely. Still, I would think something like Notepad++ could be configured to do just that.
I remember seeing a discussion somewhere once about what makes NFO files so special and why a standard text editor doesn't cut it but I can't recall the arguments put forth. I personally have no need for such a tool.
To the OP, try looking on PortableFreeware for NFO viewers.
Notepad++ does display such files indeed as they're supposed to, without any additional configuration necesarry.
"Der Klügere gibt nach, deshalb regieren Dumme die Welt."
Current versions of Notepad++ do a better job of displaying NFO files than most one-hit-winder NFO apps.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
wordpad notepad and whatnot. nfo is also a MS help file so i have had some issues with NFO files opening in XP.
