Portable apps launcher programs grouping?

============
Is it possible/planned to make application grouping? at least separators Smile
Folders as it made in xp/w7 + separators could be the perfect thing for people who have a lots of portable applications.
============
Also i would like to suggest more configurable right menu, or even ability to hide it. I store my music and photos and other files encrypted and those folders are useless for me, but it could be nice if i can add some custom folders or even add explorer shourtcuts like my computer/control panel/cmd/etc.
============

Do you like my idea? is it possible and should i wait for that features? Or maby it is already in to-do list? Smile

Sorry if I am posting in a wrong thread.

This is already in the works

This is already in the works and will be in the 2.0 release. Hopefully it will make it into the next beta Smile

It amazes me that on the internet you can be anything you want, and yet so many people still choose to be idiots.

Grouping is coming

Application grouping or categories, are coming soon. It's a highly requested feature.

As for customization of the right hand menu, it's another highly requested feature but I don't know what the status of that is. Somebody else would have to comment on that.

Don't Think That Will Happen

That won't be supported. PortableApps expects the application folders to be in root folder of the PortableAppsMenu. It's one reason I don't use PAM (categories is another).

I Don't Think So

Unfortunately, I don't think so. So you have to make a choice about what features are most important to you. On the positive side, the PAM has come a long way and the beta version has already added some very important features. It's a good time for PortableApps right now. Lots of activity, lots of development.

Nearly but not quite

That's a question for the PortableApps developers (of which I'm not) and maybe I'm wrong, but as I understand it PortableApps functionality is built around the menu application. That's not to say that you have to use the menu, just that your experience might be enhanced by doing so. I think an argument for doing it that way is to keep it standard for everybody; it's easier to support, troubleshoot and maintain when everybody is doing the same thing (in terms of PortableApps menu usage).

In my case, by choosing not to use the PortableApps menu, I have to make some sacrifices like not being able to auto-update the PortableApps I use, but then I use some non-PortableApps-portable-apps, and those can't be updated automatically anyway. In addition, I have categories in my menu and have had for years. Like I said, it's a trade off.

I hope to, one day start using the PortableApps menu once it has all the features I'm looking for. It's getting there.
